Spear & Jackson 5LPAPS 5 Litre Pump Action Pressure Sprayer

Fantastic piece of kit. I've had more expensive types and the don't perform as well. It's really easy to use and once you're done the pressure is released easily by gently lifting the valve. The spray gun is very controllable. What more can I say apart from I highly recommend this sprayer.

Excellent, so easy to use, fill the container to the max line 5L pump up to 35 times and off you go. I bought this knowing full well it’s not a Karcher type pressure washer, I bought it to pre soak a small car and wash a holiday home windows it’s great. Hopefully the finger press clip lasts but for the price of two pints I’m well happy. I’m going to buy another to use in the garden. whilst the price is so good.

The first time I bought one of these I used it with sodium hypochlorite. It is not specifically designed for this but it worked a treat and got the job done. I should have cleaned it but when I went to try it again, it was all bunged up and pretty useless. I bought another, forgot I bought it (it's an age thing) and bought yet another, but this final one was leaking air. I almost sent it back but instead I donned my Sherlock deerstalker and went to town. O-ring was fine. Seated well and not noticeable issues, so I decided to check for sure and used my old one and it was still leaking, so that wasn't the issue. The next thing was the sprayer lead itself. I undone it and noticed that the tube that goes inside the unit came off like it was coated in butter. Again I turned to the old one and found that it was a tight fit. I swapped the parts, problem solved. Definitely a design fault in some models that need fixing. Are you listening S&J? Everything works fine, the adjustable spray, the pressure with no complaints whatsoever. I've just checked the other new one, still boxed, and the fit is also tight. Nevertheless, this is a potential flaw and deserves a star dropped. Overall a decent sprayer that has served me well but if you have an old one and decide to replace it remember, there might be some useful spare parts available. Update: on closer inspection the fault was a split in the tube that goes inside so that's 2 out of 3 that were perfect for the task.

Really good powerful reach, needed to apply moss prevention to a single story extension. Reached very well and did the job perfectly. The size of the barrel was perfect, managed to lift and carry a full barrel of product with ease. Not too awkward when I was going up and down ladders. Great buy. Felt sturdy.

Bought for our front driveway, to keep the driveway clear from weeds. Have used this pump action pressure sprayer a few times and very effective it is. This pump has been a great investment well worth the investment. Would recommend to all.

Updated 04/2024 - just to add to the below detailed review that this is still going strong in 2024! Had to do a minor repair to the pump tube (a bit of gorilla tape) as I caught it on a spade - but even with my small repair, this pump is still a great asset to my garden and other jobs! Please see below for full previous review! As with most of my reviews, I like to leave my comments after a period of use as I think that is a fair way to really test out and items durability - especially when it is being used a lot as I have with this spray. Bought back in August 2019 (almost a year ago) I can confirm this is a great pump spray that has lasted well and bee used many a time and with a little tweak could get to that 5 star it really deservers (see 'cons' below). Pros Solid Build - This has been banged around left, right and centrer - from garage, around the garden, to shed and more. No dents and I feel confident when storing liquid within it that it will be safely contained. Easy to use - I wish I could share more than one video to show the pump action and filling but you will just have to trust me that it is easy to use. Filling is not a problem as with the pumping itself. There is an air valve to release the pressure if required and you just turn and lock in the handle when pumping is complete. Good coverage from spray - You can tweak the spray to your liking which gives great targeted or wide coverage as you can see in the video. This is epically improtant if you are using chemicals such as weed killer. Filling guidelines - you can see from the pictures that there are measurement lines on the side which are large and clear to see and which is very important if needing to mix. Weight and pump lasting time - once filled the weight is actually not that bad at all and the spray time you get out of each pump is more than enough I think - this would depend upon the amount you are spraying out of the nozzle of course and the area to be covered. Cons - Okay so here is why I gave it 4 stars and although this does not hinder the use it really did annoy me at first so I like to be completely honest in my reviews. The strap. It goes over your shoulder fine and stays there mostly but it is a little annoying and doesn't always hold to the shoulder - shift round to the front or off the shoulder at times. This means that if it gets in the way or otherwise just becomes a little loose it stops you until you sort it again. Also when filling/emptying it can tend to get wet which my read minor but when you are using chemicals you don't want them on your strap that is then going on your clothing etc. I have got used to this now but the design of the strap could be a little better in my opinion = personal choice maybe but just being honest here. Would I recommended this? Absolutely. It's great for the jobs at hand and a solid product - even with that strap. Tips - I don't usually give tips in reviews but thought some might find this useful. I wear rubber gloves as it saves you getting chemicals on your hands as the spray particles can spread in the wind. Wear clothing that you don't mind getting 'contaminated' as, again, when spraying you will get some particles landing on clothing. Don't use it in the wind! Wear goggles maybe - depending on what you are spraying.

It looked good. And it is good, once you get it working properly. The one I received was filled with water and tested. It seemed to do the job, until...it stopped spraying water and started spraying air, even when the end of the supply tube was lying on the bottom of the tank. Eventually, I fround that the end of the supply tube, which had presumably been notched to facilitate its connention to the outlet adapter, had be split too far and as the tube moved around the split opened and closed causing air or water to be forced out. I hope the suppliers/manufacturers read this and get the right sized tubing for the adapter to avoid this happening to other users.
