Well made, easy to use, unbelievably low price, free lens cap & cloth - You cant go wrong !!
I recently acquired a new lens for my Nikon D3000 and it has a 58 mm aperture which is different to the standard 52 mm of the regular [18-55 mm] Kit lens. Please be sure of your aperture [width of lens] size when ordering as many people seem to order the wrong size by mistakenly using the lens focal length [ie. 18-55 mm].Now that I've cleared up a common ordering issue I have to tell you how brilliant this product is. The lens hood mount is made of metal and feels very sturdy once in place. The actual petal lens hood is made of plastic and feels solid and robust. The lens hood is easy to remove and re-attach in the forward and backward position, using minimal force, it just clicks into place. Once the hood is attached it feels secure and does not move. I have walked around the park with the lens hood up and camera ready to shoot. It was gently knocked about on the end of the camera strap as I walked about and stayed firmly in place. When I had finished it was really quick to switch the hood round and fit the camera into a small carry case. I do not anticipate any problems with this lens hood, but for this price you could but two spares and still be cheaper than some of the competition. The fact that you get a decent lens cap and good lens cloth as well is just a nice bonus.I have bought cheap plastic lens hoods before and was quite disappointed, but this product has far exceeded my expectations and I would happily recommend it to my friends. I am already considering buying the 52 mm aperture hood for my other lens.

Good value - well made lens hood
I bought this to replace the one which came with my Panasonic DMC G2. It was very loose and kept falling off which meant in the end I lost it.It arrived very quickly and having worked with it for a while I managed to attach it. Initially I got confused with the UV filter I keep on the camera and didn't realise it has two parts. It's great that you can reverse it - clicking it easily into place. At 24mm setting you can see part of the hood if it is positioned in a particular position - so I will have to keep an eye on that and may have to crop the photo if I don't notice it at the time. Attaching the strap to the lens cover was a bit tricky and in the end I had to use a needle to pull it through - but it will be very handy as I've lost a few of them. Cloth very handy too. All in all I'm very pleased with it for the money.

Very easy fit and seems robust
Very easy fit and seems robust, though only usage and time will tell. This is something I have been used to having on my cameras but could not find a reasonably priced lens hood to fit my Nikon P900. Not only is this very reasonable pricewise (exceptionally good value) but the lens cap and cleaning cloth included make this outstanding value for money. Threading the strap to the lens cap is a little fiddly, though probably more to do with my aging eyes (even with glasses) than the item.Reversing the lens hood to reduce the overall lens length for storing in the camera case is very easy - as is the placement of the hood in normal operation. The metal ring fits smoothly over the existing sky filter - making sure it is sufficiently tight enough - and the lens hood attaches to that ring by four small spring loaded ball bearings. I read that this lens hood could cause vignetting at wide angle setting, though have found this not to be so. This may be just due to the order items are fitted on my P900 - nearest to lens - sky filter, next the fitting ring then the lens hood.Last but not least, the tulip lens hood does the job exactly as it should do.

Tulip flower pattern Lens Hood for Nikon
I bought this tulip pattern lens hood for a Nikon 70/300mm lens It was not expensive compared to some.lens Hoods. T'he saying is ' You get what you pay for.' When It arrived I was pleasantly suprised. In the package as advertised was the 58 mm Lens Hood, 58 mm lens cap. lens retaining strap and lens cloth, all neatly packaged. For the price it is quite sturdy and well made. It is push fit over the end of the lens and held in place with a ball type retainer. When correctly fitted it is held securely and only an accidental hard knock, which would probably damage the lens anyway, would fetch it off. I do not intend to use it in reverse mode, have not tried that and cannot comment on that. The lens cap can be fitted with the hood in place. There is a slot and small hole through which the strap is easily fitted to the cap using the small tool provided. The other end of the strap is an elasticated band which fits neatly around the lens at the back of the hood and looks quite neat.In my case I fitted a 58 mm screw in cpl filter without removing the lens hood and then the cap into that. All in all I thought it was outstanding value for money and I got More Than I paid For. I happily give it 5 stars

Some clear faults, but fundamentally works okay.
The hood itself is absolutely fine in terms of being used to block stray light glancing across the lens, and at least on the 35mm lens I attached this to (53mm equivalent due to crop factor) it does not visible in and does not produce any vignetting. However, separating the hood and the thread mount it uses is tricky as the fit is on the too-tight side, so it's easier to just treat it as one solid piece and forget about reverse-mounting it.Also, the 55mm cap included is not actually 55mm. Measured it comes in at a fraction over 56mm, and though it fits within the hood and the hood's threaded mount just fine, it can't be used on the lens/filters without the hood & mount. It's simply too big to fit. So if you buy the 55mm version, make sure to keep hold of whatever 55mm lens cap you already use. (I can't say if other sizes will be a similar case or not.)If the hood is all you're interested in really then this does work fine, and it's nice to have a screw-in hood which accommodates filters. Cleaning cloth is fine though given how cheap and bountiful they are, it's hardly worth bothering to buy this just for that. The reverse mounting mechanism and the lens cap simply are not up to scratch, but you don't buy a lens hood for the sake of getting a lens cap, so I'm not too bothered. Just consider this as a lens hood which is a little better than the next cheapest hoods, and forget the rest of the things this package is supposed to provide.

A Flower Lens shade that does not darken/clip the edges while in 'wide angle' position on the Nikon P900 and probably others
Nikon CoolPic P900 camera with a UV filter. If you have this camera, this is the Flower Hood for you. NO darkening of corners even when a UV or other filter is used. Screw the adapter onto the lens or filter. The hood is tough plastic and has 4 nifty spring loaded ball bearings that allow the hood to 'SNAP' onto the adapter ring with just a little force. The hood can then be rotated so the longer protrusions are directly on the top and bottom. I found a little squeeze when pulling helps the hood pull free from the adapter. The hood can be reverse mounted on the Nikon P900 to save space in the camera bag. In both hood positions the 'original Nikon' lens cap works fine and so does the supplied generic cap. I've tried several 'flower lens hoods' and this is the first one that mounted very easily and did NOT darken the picture corners when zoomed back to wide angle (24mm). This flower hood works for the Nikon P900 and probably many other cameras. The lens cloth gets tossed in the camera bag with all the other lens cloths. Seems everyone sends them now days. The Lens cap and strap are another story. The cord is longer than most which is nice. Due to my impatience I had to enlarge the tiny hole in the cap with a fork tong (any thing like a jewelers screwdriver etc.) to make threading the strap easier. You may have the patience to thread such a small opening but I don't. Enlarging that hole was very easy. The strap will 'probably' work on most camera but gave me a problem on the Nikon P900 camera. Since I use a filter the front of the lens plus the filter extends out a tad. I wanted to put the strap on that 'tad' of the filter so if I accidentally zoomed and the lens extended there would be no problem with the cap popping off. The strap fitted the filter nicely BUT the piece of plastic that molds the strap to the elastic was a bit too large to allow complete retraction of the lens. If that piece had been slightly thinner it would have been perfect for my Nikon P900. It should work fine with most non extending cameras OR just remember to remove the cap before zooming and let it dangle.I'm not done trying to find a solution and will try a THICKER UV filter (two filters would probably work) that may give enough extension so the strap will work. I'll check my camera box for other 'cap straps' for a more narrow strap or might even consider filing it down (it did 'almost' fit). The Flower Hood adapter goes inside the Hood so it does not extend the lens. There is a single bit of instructions showing how to use the hood (forward and reversed) with 8 pictures.I am overjoyed with the quality and fit of the Flower Lens Hood and will leave it on the camera. The cap strap is a specific issue in how I want to use it on a Nikon P900 and not a reflection on the quality of the strap or hood.I notice some people are not aligning the hood properly and that may cause darkening of the corners. The LARGE PETALS should be at the TOP and BOTTOM. Just grip the hood after mounting and rotate.UPDATE:Check to see if the hood blocks any part of the flash (in your picture) when using the camera's pop-up flash which will depend on your specific camera/lens/filters combination. This hood when used at wide angle on my Nikon Coolpix P900 DID block some of the light and gave a shadow at the bottom of the picture. If I zoom in just a bit it's fine but there is an issue at wide angle on my P900 and the more filters you add the worse it will get however it's very easy to just pull off the hood by hand for those shots. Guess I can't have everything. LOL
