Classic Learning Fun
My little one LOVES this toy! It keeps her busy while also helping with her motor skills and shape recognition. Solid wood, safe, and colourful. You can’t go wrong with Melissa & Doug. A timeless toy!

My 18 month old loves this
My 18 month old toddler loves this toy! It’s very durable and challenges him enough that he can get some enjoyment out of it but difficult enough for him to grow into a bit more. My only concern is that the corners are very sharp and the slide out lid can be a bit of a hazard so you may need to supervise boisterous toddlers during use

Will be a favourite for a long time!
Really lovely toy. I got for my son at 12 months. Obviously it was too difficult to match the shapes, but he loves putting them in and taking them out of the big hole at the top. Now at nearly 14 months, he can put the shapes in if I point to the right one. Will be a good learning tool for many more months, even years. The colours are vibrant and it feels well made and durable.

Good quality toy
I bought this for my son's first birthday. He enjoys playing with it. I find the quality fine despite what some may have said in their reviews. There are no chips to the wooden box of blocks and all blocks have a good even coat of paint on them. The blocks fit well through the holes they're supposed to. The lid does slide in and out easily. Some people have noted this as a criticism but I find it good as my son would struggle with a stiff lid. I've never seen it bother him that it's so easy to remove. If the blocks fall out... sure, more fun putting them back!Anyhoo... I like this and thought it was good value. The one I have has no problems and on that basis I'd recommend it.

Child will probably like, parent may find slight modifications help.
Things I like:The shapes are colourful and fit the openings. They are a good size and wooden.Things I didn't like:Big blue and green sticker on the side that you can't see - I'm spending time peeling it off to make it a more pleasing toy to look at.The "top" slips when turned - perhaps that is the idea (so that a 2 year old can empty it by itself) but probably more ideal to make it a tad harder so that the bits stay inside. Most people know that tidying up an explosion of toys doesn't need that moment when the toy you are putting away empties itself just as you think you are done. I think a slither of cardboard along the edge may give just enough friction to make it work better for both parent and child.Packaging:It is packaged in plastic with a little cardboard box inside to stop the bits rattling (and presumably becoming damaged in transit). ~This is a present that I am sending so do not want the child to be stumped by plastic inside the wrapping paper. While I rather like the idea of unpackaging it completely to give the postie an entertaining and somewhat noisy parcel to deliver, I can see the logic of the rattle free option and so will be sending it to a hopefully gleeful recipient, wrapped up sans plastic, but with the little cardboard box.
