Maplin 8 Inch Mains Powered Plasma Ball Globe Light Glowing Lamp with Touch Effect

It's good value for money and quite fun to watch. It isn't quite what I expected, for me the display appears a little dull compared with other plasma globes I have seen. There is a black plastic cover which attaches to the rear of the glass sphere and yes as others have commented here it comes off. Whether you want it to or not:). The display is enhanced with the black background as it allows you to view the plasma filaments more clearly. The downside is that the plastic cover makes the globe look cheap and unattractive. Plus it will keep falling off anyway.. so you might as well leave it off. Seems to me this would have been a much better product had they decided to use a slightly more powerful power supply. The switch is simple to use... off on and audio. In audio mode the display is supposed to react to music, vibrations and sounds in the room. It barely works at all unless you choose to place your loud speakers on their backs and place the plasma globe on top:) So good and bad really. Good value for money but if you want the best plasma globe available this isn't it. Ideally I would want a globe where the power input to the display is fully adjustable. I haven't found one yet:) oh well.

Great buy! Larger than expected, is a nice addition to my study. The sound setting however is not brilliant, granted I did not buy it for that purpose, if you are wanting this to accompany music its not the best. It only reacts if the beat it exceedingly prominent. However if you just want something cool to pop on a shelf this is perfect. Has a decent cable so you can get it to a socket with ease. The black plastic coat covers roughly 50% of it and can be repositioned so its easier to see the lights but is not made overly well, it is a bit of a sod to position so it doesn't fall off, but if you dont want it there its easy to remove. I managed to get it so it stays it just takes a bit of fiddling around. Overall, great buy though!

It's arrived very Quick!! Faster than I expected. Is huge lamp! Amazing! My son 10years old love it from first moment. It is reacting for voice or small vibration... it has switch with 3 position: off, on, voice.The black plastic behind you Can removed permanently, so is clear glass. I'm really satisfy for that price is great deal and better than expected.Please remember is not a toy is glass and electric, so is your resposibilty to keep your Kids safe When they are using it. Just be smart and all will be fine ;)My wish is that it will have stronger glass, I colud feel easily through it but it was slightly. Unfortunately stronger glass will make it more expensive, I guess. But it doesn't meen, more expensive are better than this one 😉

Exactly what we wanted but not quite as bright as we would have liked. However, the price was good and we are happy with our purchase.

A full filled ball of zapping energy, designed to give you a few little electric shocks! But harmless ones of course! It also looks quite intriguing to watch.

Is perfect... :O but the glass is too weeeeak i think. I think is not a toy for children... But the lamp is 14/10 haha

Great price and fast delivery. This is one of the larger globes around without going to silly prices and I'm very pleased with it.Has a display mode (normal) that you can leave running or touch and get nice effects and also a mode where it pulses in time to the music - didn't really like this mode though.It's a good size and makes a great retro addition to any room.Recommended

Could do with being a bit bigger, but it does exactly what I expected it to. Looks great in my daughters' bedroom
