If you came here from the Staywell door, then you've made the right choice. I replaced the draughty, noisy Staywell medium door for the DogMate medium. They are both nearly the same size, so the hole in the door was perfectly covered by DogMate. Plenty of thick trim included - easy to cut to size - and a nice firm seal around the edges. The draft exclusion trim and strong embedded magnet mean the door closes quietly, and stays closed in a gale. No breeze around the edges. The edging seems tough enough for my Jackpom and Pomchi to race through. The dogs aren't able to get at the embedded magnet or chew it, so it's safe for puppies (unlike the staywell brand). It looks tidy and smart, with a slide down cover to stop the dogs getting out overnight or strays getting in. Value for money. Haven't you bought this door yet? You can do it alone, but two people holding it in place can screw the whole thing together in less time than it takes to read this review.

I had one of these for 7 years in my old house. I moved and bought a Petsafe which broke in 6 months, I replaced it, and it broke again. I own a Springer spaniel whose chest depth measurements are on the edge for the medium Petsafe, that combined with his exuberant nature is presumably too much for the Petsafe door so i have now reverted to a Petmate. The swing door is virtually as wide but a cm or two deeper which is better. It comes in 2 halves instead of 4 bits which can be fiddly and the 4 mounting screws are stainless M5 instead of galvanised M4 so are less prone to rust, and more robust. The fittings are also separate from the door area whereas with Petsafe they are behind a flap which just makes it more fiddly to fit. The Petite security door also slots in front ways whereas Petsafe slides in from the top, which with my door is a problem as the dog door has to be mounted between 2 bracing arms so sliding in from the top doesn't work. Both doors work and if you are on a tight budget with a smaller breed the Petsafe is probably fine but overall the Petmate is a superior product.

It is kind of easy to fit but washers are fiddly to fit in place and it might be generally easier to fit with two people doing it.We have 2 dogs both Chihuahua French Bulldog crosses very different weights and sizes !! see videos they both got the idea super quick. Whilst the bigger dog can do it more easily the smaller 3kg dog can too, it will be whether she chooses too 🤣.Seems a good product for the price point and we will see !!!

This is the brand to buy! Bought 2 for both external doors. Super easy to install, sleek design and easy to clean. Also easy to re attach the door when my tubby pup charges through at speed!

Good quality it say easy to fit maybe it would have been if not putting it on as a replacement

Bought this as a 2nd dog door for our Jack Russell to access the conservatory where we have an another dog door in the wall to the outside for him. Space was tight as we only had the bottom of the door we could use for the dog door which was 30 cm. As you can see from the pics my partner cut a square in the bottom part of the door and the frame of the door sits on the outer edge of the conservatory door, works perfect for our needs and means we can keep the conservatory door closed in the winter months, very happy with it.

The last one we bought only lasted 13yrs !!! so have bought another one........
