Description
Compatible with all Sky and Sky+ digital satellite receivers Powered from the RF2 output on a digital satellite receiver LED indicator shows correct operation
Product Description SLx Link Satellite TV Remote Control Extender Ideal for digital satellite TV, allows you to control your Sky box from the second TV from a different room. More Details The SLx Link solves a problem - once you've laid cable around your home to extend your use of Sky Satellite TV to another room you still have to change the channel! The Philex SLx Link simply plugs into the digital coaxial cable where it enters the second TV, and extends remote control back to the Sky Satellite box. Once the SLx Link is in place you can control the Sky Satellite box with the original remote or a suitable universal remote control. If you need to control more than one source (e.g. a Free view box as well as Sky), then you need to use the SLx Omni Link in conjunction with the SLx Link. What Does It Work With? The SLx Link is absolutely wonderful for Sky TV, including Sky Plus. The only thing we are sure it will not work with is Virgin Media. This is because Virgin Media boxes do not have line power out. You can use the SLx Omni Link or the Blue delta Smart Blaster in conjunction with the SLx Link to control Virgin Media boxes. Technical Stuff For optimum performance the Philex SLx Link should have a direct connection with no interruptions to the RF out 2 on your Digi box. Splitters, amplifiers and isolated wall plates either drop the voltage (9v) that is being sent from RF out 2 (any capacitors in circuit will pass AC but will block DC), or when sharing the signal the voltage is also shared and drops below its working voltage. To turn the power on from RF2 on a Sky Box: Using a Sky remote press Services, then press 4, then type in 0 1, select, then press 4. Make sure the RF 2 Power is switched ON. Aerial Amplifiers For multiple installations a SLx Aerial Amplifier may be needed such as the SLx 2B, a SLx4B, a SLx6B or a SLx8B - these 'B' type amplifiers have a digital bypass built into them and will also feed 9 volts to each output to power as many SLx Links as you co Manufacturer's Description Slx Link System comes with an infra-red eye which receives signals from remote controls on a second TW away from the digital receiver, to operate their digital receiver using a remote control from their correct location+.

Works well but make sure you set your SKY box correctly first.
I have used this to run an extension through to a spare TV in the conservatory.Set up.----------This is easy, just fit the SLx between the Ariel cable from the SKY box and the TV. Position the IR receiver in line of sight and that's it. They even provide an adhesive pad to mount the IR receiver in a permanent position.Notes on using this with SKY box's.-----------------------------------------------ON my SKY HD box I needed to run the extension Ariel cable from the RF 2 socket on the back as this also carries a 5 volt supply to run the SLx Magic eye, it won't work off RF 1 as this has no 5 volts. You must also make sure that the RF sockets are live on your SKY box or it will not work. On my box I had to enter the engineering menu to do this. Here is Sky's instructions to get into the menus on the different boxes:Press the 'Sky' button2.Press 'Services' button on the remote3.Select the 'System Setup' option which was number 4 at the time of writing this article4.Using the remote press '01' and then 'Select'If you have the new Sky+ HD guide, then follow the below:1.Press the 'Sky' button2.Press 'Services' button on the remote3.Press '001' and then 'Select'When in the engineers menu, you will get options similar to below*:1.LNB Setup2.Default Transponder3.Telephone Settings4.RF Outlets5.Manual Tuning6.New Installation7.Sky+ Planner Rebuild8.Full System ResetChoose the RF outlets and make sure they are on and on my box I needed to press the Green button to save this. If you run into problems just Google 'how do I set up a second TV on my Sky box' and there is plenty of help out there.Using.--------Once set up and working (the red led lights on the SLx box) the remote works all the SKY functions like on the main set. I am going to buy a second SKY remote so that both TV's have one and then I can add extra function to each remote based on the TV make like volume etc.Overall.----------It works and allows the full control of a second TV. For the price amazing !

Transferred picture fine but cannot use remote with it.
I bought this to replace a previous TV eye that had started to fall out of my downward pointing aerial socket in the TV. I chose this as it has the extra extension from unit to TV which made it much easier to form a stable connection and the TV channel displayed immediately. When I went to use the remote to change channel, the receiving infrared eye flashed red but nothing else happened. I reported this an received a replacement next day.. sadly exactly the same. I guess my long distance (2 floors)between the eye and the sky box affects it? So now have the old and new eyes plugged to each other so the old infrared works fine. Will manage with it till I find another.

Excellent item for an excellent price.
Thanks to the other reviewers I knew that in order to use the Magic Eye on another tv it had to be wired from the Sky box using coaxial cable and fortunately for me I'd already wired the whole flat so I could watch tv/video in other rooms. When I got the Magic Eye however, I discovered that the aerial splitter/signal booster box I used stopped the Eye from working, so I wired it directly to my bedroom set and it works perfectly. When I had the Sky equipment fitted, I mentioned to the excellent Sky engineer that I was going to get a Magic Eye and he set everything up for me on the Sky box. In order to still get tv in other rooms I've had to add an adaptor to connect up both aerial outfeeds to the Sky box. Please note, aerial sockets are female but the out socket on the Sky box is male; if you're going to connect the outfeed to more than one aerial lead as I have done, you'll need a female to two male connector. NB: I should check with Sky, since I'm only doing this by trial and error and would not like to accidently mislead anyone. Happy viewing!

slx magic eye ir extender
wanted to run sky through to another tv and found a link device on sky site,so i checked on amazon and found a similar item at a much cheaper price so i thought i would give it a trypleased to say it works a treat and can now watch sky on another tv from the main one connected to the sky box.you need to run a co-axial cable from the rf out at back of the sky box to the 2nd tv and then connect this device to the aerial in on the 2nd tv.you also need turn on the rf out signal from the sky box to make this work.the sLx comes with instructions on how to set it up,the one i bought comes fitted with a cable that fits into the 2nd tv which makes it even easier.

Great if you can't get to your Sky+HD box with your remote...
Fantastic product for the price... well worth the money. I needed it as I put furniture in front of my sky+HD box. Following Raregoblins review - I plugged the Magic Eye into the RF OUT2 connection in the back of my Sky+HD box. Pressed services on my sky remote, then 0, 0, 1, select - then at the top there was a tab that says RF OUT, I turned the 'RF POWER SUPPLY to ON, then finally pressed the green button and hey presto! - magic eye working fine.

works well
Bought as a present for my dad as he has his sky box in a press below his TV and had to keep it open in order to change channels. Once in place it worked fine. The only slightly annoying part is that the hole for the cables to go down into the press is too small for either end of the device to pass through. It would be good if either the top or bottom bit detached from the cable for this sort of scenario. However, a TV cable connecting the magic eye to the box allows it to be positioned in the desired position so not too much of a problem.
