Excellent pack. I read lots of reviews about travel ...
Excellent pack. I read lots of reviews about travel backpacks and this and its little sibling (the farpoint 40) were the most talked about. I have taken this away on multiple trips but it really came into its own on a holiday to SE Asia. Easy to handle getting in & out/ on & off buses and taxis. The straps fold away nicely so that they are safe from deadly backpack ripping airport carousels. Easy to pack/unpack (especially when using packing cubes). I have used the daysack attachment everyday for work for the last year + and I would be lost without it. both are very comfortable when fully loaded. The only minor snag I would say is that the material on the back of the daysack makes my shirt ride up every 5 minutes, so I forever pulling my shirt down - a minor inconvenience. Absolutely love it. Would recommend in a heart beat.

Lives up to hype, and better for ladies than the Fairview!
So to get right to the point, I bought this for me, and bought my wife the Fairview 70. We went for a trip to London. My wife complained of severe shoulder pain wearing her heavy women's fit Osprey Fairview 70. What happened? We ended up swapping. The Osprey Farpoint 55 looked much more comfortable on her and her facial expression was much more relaxed. I don't know if it is the thicker straps, or the better design of the Farpoint, but my wife said she felt her back supporting the weight, and not pulling on her shoulders. As for me, I was stuck with her Osprey Fairview and I know it is supposed to be a women's fit, but it was sore on me as well as her. It was agony! The Osprey Farpoint is possibly the best heavy duty backpack for its straps, design, centre of gravity being closer to your back (the 70 might be further away), plus having features like the 'day pack'. It lives up to its Hype, unlike the Fairview 70, regardless if you are male or female. If you are a lady, you may actually find the Farpoint 55 much more comfortable than the Fairview range, despite the Fairview being technically a 'womens fit'. My wife said she will be happy to go backpacking again provided I buy her either a case on wheels, or a Farpoint 55.

Perfect for my backpacking trip!
This is a great rucksack and was perfect for my backpacking trip around Australasia. The front opening made it super easy to repack- really handy when moving between different hostels every other day! The size was perfect for my 2- month long trip as it was slightly small- this stopped me over-packing like I usually do and saved me having to carry around a ridiculously sized pack on my back (my friend carried an 90L backpack and she could hardly lift it). Delivery was prompt although there was probably a bit too much packaging. Couldn't recommend this product enough though!

Great multi-use bag.
Not disappointed by Osprey!I've had a Farpoint 40 for a few years now and used it as a work bag and for aircraft carry-on baggage which is where these bags excel. Being able to zip away all the straps and use the side handle is a feature every manufacturer should implement.I can't remember it leaking, nothing has broken or frayed and so I've bought the '55' model. This version has a zip on day bag which, disappointingly attaches 3/4 of the way around so the space between the bags can't be used for stowing more goodies. I'll put a hydration pack in there so the space isn't completely wasted.I bought the Small fitting bag as I'm tall and thin. The straps all adjust nicely to my body, only the shoulder strap tensioners slip so I'll tape them in place along with the other spare ends.I have no reservations about recommending the Farpoint bags. Sure, you can buy cheaper but this is definitely worth the money.

Wonderful and magnificent bag!The only downside were that the front backpack is now quite difficult to start the zip. This may be dirt but the other zips work well. I would have also appreciated a couple more inner pockets but other than that this bag is incredible.Ive taken it around asia for 3 months where its been chucked about, abused, strapped to the back of a motorbike for several days across harsh Nepalise roads and its come back 100% intact. I kept both bags at brimming maximum capacity for 99% of all my trips.Love this and will keep it for all future trips.

The perfect bag for city travelling
I was travelling through Germany for 11 weeks, moving from city to city and staying for a few days at a time. A travelling blog recommended this bag for such a trip, partly for its size but also for the additional, separable day bag. I was, however, initially hesitant to purchase it because of the price tag, and I was trying to stick to a strict budget on my trip.I have had absolutely no second thoughts since it arrived. This bag is fantastic. It is big enough to fit all your travelling essentials while not being so big that it becomes cumbersome. The designers thought it through very well, as both bags come with just the right number of storage compartments and features. The straps on the larger bag, for instance, can be hidden away and the day pack zips up with relative ease. The support is also very good, and I can wander around for an hour with a fully-laden bag with few problems. Longer, however, might start to become an issue. If you can get this bag for less than Β£100, it is a no-brainer.

Excellent sized bag and quality
Perfect bag for our travels this summer with the dog. Big and comfortable yet never felt like it was in the way. the straps for the upper and lower back are very comfy on the body, aswell as the carrying handles which are padded. We made plenty of use of the detachable bag on the front. Id say perfect for any weekend national travels.

Amazing!
Probably a little bit for me, making the bag a little less comfortable than it could be (Iβm 5β4 for reference) but itβs super durable and there is plenty of space inside for everything. All straps are adjustable which is handy and the detachable daypack is my favourite feature, such a good idea for day trips
