Quickly and easily charge multiple devices from a single power outlet
In a family home such as ours (2 adults and 2 children) the multitude of electronic devices soon means that there are not enough plug sockets in the home to charge them all. We already own an older Anker PowerPort but Christmas means new tablets for the kids and so a need to power more devices. I took advantage of a Black Friday Week offer to purchase a [New Release] Anker PowerPort 5 (40W 5-Port USB Charging Hub) Multi-Port USB Charger for iPhone 6 / 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 / mini 3, Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge and More.As we already owned a similar product I knew exactly what to expect, a top quality item for a good price. The Anker is around the size of a pack of cards, with a power connector at the rear (and ships with a reasonably long 5ft detachable power cord) and 5 USB Ports at the front. You use your existing USB charging cable to power and charge your device via the Anker. The Anker is more then just a mere charger, special IQ Technologies allow the Anker to allocate the correct amount of power depending on a devices need to provide the fastest possible charge up to 2.4 amps per port or 8 amps overall. For any household with multiple devices in need of charging the Anker is a highly recommended purchase.

Great chargers!
I have four of these Anker chargers. I only use one of them for charging devices and that one works really well. There are no issues with Apple products complaining about the use of a non-Apple charger, which means the power output is stable and well within the tolerances that Apple products require (Apple iOS devices really don't like it if you use a charger with an unstable power output and they will stop taking current and display messages on screen complaining about the charger being used). But, I mainly use these chargers for powering LED lights. I have LED lights on shelves in a room and these chargers are ideal for connecting LED light strings to. I have 4 shelves with LED lights and the charger has 5 charging ports, so it's ideal for connecting all the LED lights to, so that they can all receive power from one plug socket.I have other LED lights around the same room, attached to items of furniture, so you get a nice warm glow in the room after dark. The other chargers provide power to those LED lights. There have been no problems with the power output blowing LEDs or anything.TIP! - If your charger gets a bit warm when providing power, if you can, raise it off of the ground so that air can circulate all around it. I have attached rubber feet to my ones so that air can circulate and it keeps the chargers now at a much cooler temperature.

Brilliant for the owners of multiple gadgets
I bought this to replace several individual chargers which were distributed throughout our home; having one central location and one charger for all our devices seemed like a good idea - particularly when going on holiday (so much less to pack!).After browsing many products and carefully reading numerous reviews, I settled on the Anker PowerPort 5; while it was a tough decision between two 4.9-out-of-5 products on Amazon, I chose the Anker product for a number of reasons.1. Despite fewer overall reviews, it had a proportionally-higher number of 5-star reviews than the other product, and correspondingly lower 4-, 3-, 2-, and especially 1-star reviews.2. For the reviews for this and other Anker products, all are agreed that they have amazing customer support if things go wrong.3. Their own website is really excellent, giving a wealth of information and a really positive impression of the company as a whole. When it arrived, I was struck with the quality of the packaging information supplied with the product. It is almost Apple-like and gives another really positive impression. This continues with the information supplied, and gives direct contact information for their customer support department for if you're less than happy.Included in the box was the charger itself (which was surprisingly compact!), together with a UK specific power cord (I've not measured it, but estimate it to being around 1 metre in length) with a 5-amp sealed, fused plug. They also supply two Velcro cable tidy strips (to keep the power cable neatly coiled when travelling) - one attached the the cable, and another one in the box.The charger itself is very minimal, with a really nice soft-touch (almost silky) finish to the four sides; the front (with the 5 USB ports) has a glossy finish, with a regular (quality) plastic back, into which the power cord plugs.Operation is simplicity itself: connect the power plug to the back, and plug it in to the wall socket; the USB leads go in the front. As I write this, I have four devices charging simultaneously; an iPad Air 2, an iPad 3, an iPhone 4s and a Motorola Moto G. While I've no testing gear to check outputs, all devices seem to be charging at top speed; the percentages of each device is increasing by about 1% each minute or two. Again, this is an arbitrary measurement, but certainly on a par with the native chargers, and possibly even quicker.Whilst outputting all this power, the charger is noticeably warm, almost bordering on hot. By this I mean it's warm to the touch, but cool enough to hold without discomfort. I have no means of quanifying the temperature, but would estimate it around 45 degrees C based on its 'feel'.My only suggestion for improvement would be some form of indicator as, at the moment, there are no indicators whatsoever. Whilst this gives a clean look, and makes it suitable for use in the bedroom (I can confirm that the unit is absolutely silent in operation) it does mean you have to 'wake up' each device in turn to check the status of the charge. Personally, I feel it would be useful to have either an overall indicator (indicating whether it's plugged in, and that it's supplying power to the USBs), but preferably it would be useful to have an indicator for each USB port (no connection / charging / charged), so you can see the status from across the room. All in all, this is an excellent product for the money, with a real quality feel, excellent customer service, and surprisingly useful.A recommended buy!
