What I expected and more!
So I bought this toy for my son, who is 13, for Christmas and as he is TOTALLY obsessed with Doctor Who, he thoroughly enjoyed it. In countless reviews, The sonic is packaged differently with this cardboard boxing around it while the one I received is very similar to the way the figures are packed with a cardboard backing and a plastic front. While i much prefer the plastic front as it shows of the toy quite well, i would've preferred the cardboard boxing as it would've had a sense of style about it. So as i said it does show off the toy very well, continuing this font Character have been using for Wave 3 with this sort of 2012 Olympic Games sign style with the boxing of it. The box has three signs, all hexagonal, saying 'ELECTRONIC LIGHTS & SOUNDS!', 'NEW! TOUCH CONTROL!' and one containing the image of the ' Removable Power Core'.Opening the box was quite easy with the cardboard backing and all. The box contains a box which contains The Twelfth Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver. I then had to pop it out which was a bit scary as it felt a bit Raggedy, pun intended. The Sonic was placed in the box, rather awkwardly as it was in extended mode but not fully extended mode, this is why i felt a bit nervous 'popping' it out.So, i finally held The Touch Control Sonic Screwdriver in my hands! So the overall look of the Sonic is amazing, what with the improved paint applications, larger size to match the actual prop and a different feel to the Eleventh Doctor's which is handy as the original slipped out of my hands occasionally which is fortunately how i came about purchasing this toy as my old one broke its button so it couldn't be used in closed position. The all around look of this figure is amazing, with upgraded copper tones, a sharper white tone and a very realistic leather section, which has a great feel to it. What lets me down, only a bit, is the seam line as it is very noticeable and also what annoys me about most figures....battery compartments and legal stuff. On the backside of the toy, is where the batteries are held and on the section covering the batteries is the legal writing, albeit it is in a white tone, matching the section it's accompanied to it does still detract from the overall feel of it. So starting with the lights and sound effects, i was really surprised to find that the 11th's Doctor sound chip was used. This took me by surprise as i did not know about the use of the Touch Control. It is very similar to touch screen and for that i am astounded. Activating the lights and sounds is simple, you simply hold your index finger at the back of the device and press your thumb on the front. Tapping it three times activates the ' scanning' sound effect while four times activates the 'broken' sound. This can be frustrating as just holding it activates it, even when you don't want to, minimizing the use young children can get out of it. Extending the device is easy as it has the same button as the previous toys. The wire is still present as it runs through the green tube but is small, concealing it better. The 'claws' still doesn't reach the emitter, unfortunately. Turning to the Power Core, it is placed where the red button was previously place, also a great spot for the batteries, and can be pulled out, this is actually a bit annoying as it is hard to pull it out which for young kids can hurt them, this reveals the 'Power Core' which is a hollow translucent green material, same as the emitter at the other end. It features the same pattern as a data chip with a silver lining meant to conduct the power if it was a real device. I don't see the point in this to be honest, as much as i do like it and it is a nice addition, it doesn't feature lights or sound or it isn't an actual 'Power Core' However for the younger children, it is a nice part as it can be used to store little secrets and stuff to role-play with.Overall, I really like this toy as it can be used frequently and fails to bore me through tremendous amounts of play, even the old wear and tear doesn't distract me from its prowess. For great reviews and all things Geek, i highly recommend the great Votesaxon07. a famous you tuber who reviews countless toys, collectibles, box-sets and does it amazingly. Thank you for reading, i apologize for any spelling mistakes, and I hope you enjoy your very Touch Control Sonic ~Screwdriver, goodbye :)

Fantastic Toy
I think this is a fantastic toy, the ability to use this toy replica of the 12th Doctors Sonic Screwdriver at the touch of the handle is simply amazing, it is easy and convenient to use like this. I also like how you can activate the lights and sound effects whilst in closed mode and open mode without using the end red cap button that was on a previous version of the toy. The only downsides I have about this toy is it doesn't feel as robust as the previous version, when you extend it into open mode the top half of the screwdriver can rattle somewhat inside the case and feels like it would snap off if it was ever dropped, something that can happen frequently with children's toys, I think they should've designed it to be a bit more secure and sophisticated with it being a child's toy. This is why I have given it a 4/5, but overall if your careful with it you will love this toy.

My son loves playing dr who with this great sonic screwdriver
My son is a big dr who fan and when he was browsing through amazon he came across this screwdriver so brought it from some Christmas money he had.It came very quickly much to his delight! Over the years he's had quite a few different sonic screwdrivers as he has such great imaginative play skills and likes to pretend he's dr who! This one is by far one of his favourites. He says he likes the way part of the screwdriver pops out just like it does on dr who! This has a few buttons so they make different noises depending on which he presses and also lights up.Its made very well from a toughened plastic. Its such a joy watching him playing either by himself or with friends reenacting out different scenes or ones they make up pretending to be dr who!

Great toy with only one gripe
The best toy version of the 11th doctors sonic screwdriver, the touch controls are easy and my only gripe is how flimsy the prongs are (the bits what stick out when it extends) besides that it's amazing I somewhat prefer it to my 11th doctors universal remote sonic.a great cheap alt for cosplay.

Not the touch sonic
Yes I’m okay with not having to touch sonic one because it’s still a sonic screwdriver and that pleases meBut please don’t list it as a touch sonic, but then only send the version of the sonic screwdriver without touch feature because that is very misleading

FAKE CRAP
DO NOT BUYThis item is advertised as the touch control sonic screwdriver, it is not and I can assure it's not genuine either (I would know I bought a bootleg previously) if you want a bootleg sonic you can find the same one for MUCH cheaper and if you want a genuine touch control sonic, you won't find it here!

Great detail
Great detail and good sounds. Took a little while to understand the touch grip control, but my seven year old son loves it. It's not super strong - don't whack it against tables and walls - but with care it'll last a while.

Good looking item but don't think it should be classed as a toy
Dissapointing as it broke within an hour of of being used (not rough use (retractable function stopped retracting)). Real shame as my daughter (9 years) loves Doctor who. Sent it back for refund, no issues with the refund.
