Q: Hi there i am trying to find a replacement 1/4 inch collet for this laminate trimmer can anyone help me?

Have you tried to get a Makita collet, chances are it will fit.Also how long have you had this trimmer and have you had any trouble with it.I bought one last week and it died after 15 minutes!. AIM sent a replacementvery quickly but it only lasted about an hour before that too died!.Am I just unlucky or are these trimmers really crap?

a lot of these are made at the same factory and the distributer puts their own logo on them so if all the specs are the same then it could be the same

Q: Total plunge undersole seems limited because the way the "clear polycarbonate screw and rack" does not go up enough to better relief the collet hex ?

You have about 1 inch of total plunge. However, be careful not to overload the motor: its total lifespan is less than a couple of hours in total.

Q: can you cut clean dados/grooves and rabbets with this? Thanks!! ;)

I would say no because of speed of the router but if you fixed in a vice. I have used it to cut hinges and locks which don't need to be that accurate as such, But does work well and if you have a strong steady hand it would work.
