At first glance, this looks like a grear product. When I bought it, the fitting used was not clear and since it took some time to find a willing elrctrician.The UK standard bayonet bulb can be changed in quickly, safely an easily - I can do it with one hand. If you are stretching on tip toes, or up a ladder this matters. This thing has a screw fitting that takes a compratively long time and two hands to change - not good for a ceiling light. It's also incomptaiblw with all my existing bulbs - high quality and expensive daylight bulbsHad I known sooner, I would have returned them. The E27 notation added above now denotes screw fitting but not clearly enough.

Sturdy and attractive, these fittings have given the plain cream metal shades I already had a new lease of life, they now look much more classy with the brass bulb holder visible and the retro cloth covered twisted flex looped over from the very attractive antique brass ceiling roses, so much nicer than white plastic. The long flex has also allowed us to re-position the ceiling lights to fit in with a complete rearranging of furniture. A relatively easy and inexpensive change that has made a huge difference.

Looks good. I haven't installed yet but some instructions would've been good. It's not immediately obvious how the various screws/caps/nuts go together to attach the fixings to the ceiling/to the cable. I'm, not an inexperienced DIYer but it's taken me 10-15 minutes to get to grips with it & I'm not 100% sure I've got it right. I'll see tomorrow when I install.How much effort would it be to stick a bit of paper in with the product with a diagram to explain & save me/other buyers the 10-15 minutes?It should also be made clear in the product description that this product is only suitable for taking a shade with 40 mm fitting.

Really? I could not find a VDE nor any other electrical crtificate on the package, instructions nor the light fitting itselfThere is no terminal insulation strip for the wiring provided, You have to connect it to an insulated screw terminal.I had to shorten the cable by half to hangt it at 50cm length and hide some extra coil in the ceiling rose.Must not be fitted in rooms that could be subject to damp or moisture laden air.

Put one in my office at home. Fixed the fitting to the ceiling rose in the centre of the room and then ran the flex over the ceiling to the desk where it hangs off a chunky bracket taken off a gate which I sprayed to match the worn copper look. Put a big antique filament bulb in and it looks fantastic.One star off because the screw thread for the bulb was not perfectly straight, which means the bulb sits at a very slight angle. As I was going for a shabby industrial look though it didn't hurt.

Might not fit it now, the bulb I got is 60w and just so dull. Sure you can get others. Anyway the fitting is good quality ish. not easy to install and iam in a bungalow have move the main wire connector into the attic fix it to a beam and connect the old to new and run it into the room below. Or hopefully the new housing fits over the top of the connector which would save alot of problems.

The light fitting arrived and the quality of the unit is good.However the fitting kit supplied is poor. Zero instructions but I worked through it ok. People with little experience would not find it as easy.The bolts supplied are too long to fit the base plate. The thread sits proud when the decorative caps are fitted.I fitted mine to a wall and spent an hour or more recessing holes to make the unit fit.I would have bought more units but the fitting kit really lets this product down.

Perfect for what we needed. Have now bought 2. Comes with instructions if you need them, but it's pretty straight forward to fit
