it does what it says on the tin...
layout is logical, images demonstrate the points of each chapter and they are cross platform, not limited to one genre. a great resource and training tool. working thru the oil paint effect chapter which really caught my attention, loving Vincent as I do :), I spent a bit of time trying to find the twirl clockwise tool in the filter>liquefy menu and its not listed until u see and tick the tiny advanced box on the right hand menu..... :)

A great reference guide
For all digital artists. My only gripe with this book was it's PS centrality. Whilst the rules and formulae here can be used for any art program something open source would be far cheaper and of more use to the masses.

Highly recommended
An excellent book and highly recommended for both newbies and the more experienced. Well written in easy-to-understand english with some beautifully drafted illustrations that guide you through each stage. As with all things of this nature you are only limited by your imagination, grasp of software and hardware, and your desire to achieve. Books of this caliber can only aid you in your quest.

I already know most of the tricks on photoshop because I've been using PS for 4 years now so it wasn't so this book wasn't very useful to me but for a beginner would be a good book to start digital art.

A long ad for Photoshop
If you don't like or can't afford PS, two thirds of the book is a waste. The section on composition is okay, although other books do it better. Just looking at digital art online has done more for me.
