Does it have to be mounted to a table or something similar, or can it be used just sat on the sofa?

It would be rather difficult to use on your lap, especially with the force feedback that this has. I would recommend if you wish to use this on a sofa then consider investing in the gt omega stand designed to house this wheel/shifter/pedal set which goes for a pricy £120 but is probably well worth the investment. Has adjustable height etc and is a nice little stand to put everything where it should be for the added bit of simulation. You could try turning the force feedback entirely off and see if you could use it on your lap then but of course it would minimise the realism aspect which is why, I assume, you want this over a regular controller.

Is the pedals placed on the floor? Is there any way to fix it not sliding?

I did the same at the beginning, it slides easily on a wooden floor. Because the pedals have no grip on the bottom of the unit. So i bought the diwangus wheel stand and completely solved this problem, it can be fixed using screw mounting. I will recommend it！！！

most probs it clamps down on both sides of the wheel. at 9 inches apart.only problems is when you try and clamp it to a thick table.

Yes it does come with pedals however it doesn't come with the H-Shifter you'd need to buy that separately.
