Frostfire Digital 80 LED Ultra Bright Solar Powered Motion Detector Light

I really like this light . So much so that I purchased a second unit . Much to my delight and surprise , the second light has 80 LED's instead of 54 LED's . It is also about 30 percent brighter than the first one , which I am still very pleased with . The only thing I do not like is the way the mounting bracket has to be installed . It has to be disconnected from the lamp and than reattached . It's really just a very poor design flaw in that regard because it is quite difficult to reattach the tiny nuts , bolts and washers . Here is a tip to make that process a bit easier , double fold a small piece of scotch tape , or use double sided tape . After inserting the bolt and washer , attach the tape to end of your finger and stick the nut on it . That will hold the nut in place so you can star threading the tiny bolt . Solar power is becoming more and more less expensive, so that's a win/win situation all around . The only unknown is how long this unit will last . LED's normally have a very long lifespan . Solar Panels also can last a long time . There is a battery and it is replaceable , in my estimation , that would probally be the first thing to fail . It's very important to place the panel in a sunny southern facing direction in order for the battery to recharge . Also , there was another reviewer who had an issue with his sensor leaking water . As a precaution to this potential problem , I constructed a small sheltering bonnet around my lights .

I need a solar motion dectector for the garage. The placement would be underneath an overhang so the panel would need to be mounted in an area which received direct sunlight. The light was packaged well and the instructions, although brief, were sufficient. Time to mount was about 30 minutes from unboxing to finished mount. It was super easy to program with the LCD screen and was very adjustable. I like the fact that you could adjust the on stage of the light to the ambient light. It took some adjustment as the light would not come on when approaching the garage with the car lights on. It read the lights as daylight. That was fixable. The sensitivity is good and the light output is really good. Much better than anticipated. I have had the light for about a month and all is working well. We will see how the solar panel holds up and how long the rechargeable batteries last before replacing. I do like the fact they are standard rechargeable AA's. Time will tell how it holds up. Well worth the price so far.

I have been using it for a month and here's the breakdown: PROs: this product is provides great ilumination to my dark street, the sensors work extremely well for about 15 feet anything after that I'd a hit and miss, the set up is very simple and only requires 15-20 mons each but don't forget to set the panels with the sun's trajectory during the day in mind, and this product will last all night averaging 2-3 motion activations of 30 seconds per hour.CONS: the bracket provides ZERO support when you want to angle it a certain way. I had to use electrical tape to put it at an angle that I wanted. You can't tell because it is the same color, but I wish I didn't have to use it. If something changes about this product I will surely update this review.

The only reason I didn't give this 5 full stars was installation related. I was mounting my light under my upper deck on treated pine pillars. As a result I had to change out the screws to something a little beefier. That said, the light is up and working great. Comes on the second I walk on my deck( about 30ft) and shuts off 10 seconds after I walk in my house. Great for finding my keys on dark nights. Update-- I have had this for 8 months now. Still works perfectly. I had an animal chew the wire from the solar panel. A quick fix and good as new. I know I've said great before, but it is the truth. Update-- product has finally died after about 20 months of use.

A very good design. Mounted on the roof of a metal garage, drilled a hole through the roof for the wiring, sealed with a rubber grommet and caulk, and hung the light in the middle of the garage with the sensor pointed toward the doorway. Works flawlessly! The light is very bright and will light a 25' x 25' area very well! The settings from the factory were set just as I wanted the light to function, and I must say the sensor is VERY sensitive. A rabbit set it off hopping across in front of the open garage door! Same result with my walking cat. It worked the first evening that I received it, and had only the afternoon to charge. The light worked a dozen times that night while checking it out, and has never failed! Get one soon, you will be de-LIGHTED!

Ok, Let me just start by saying that this Light is awesome very bright and it works as described, and for the money is very much worth it. I hope that it last for a good time. Now, the reason why I gave it only a 4 is because the hardware is horrible. the two screws and the two nuts that comes with the light to attach the light a miniatures and in my case I had to UN-assemble the light in order to attach the bracket that comes with it. I think that it should be replaced by a bigger nuts and screws. that my only complaint, other than that this light is great.

I love these and have one for every side of my house. Just having an alert when there is activity in my yard gives some peace of mind. My dogs love them for night "doo-ty" and with their older eyes I know it makes them feel more secure since there are fewer accidents. The stairs down from my decks are well lit and safer and having one on my front porch that lights up when I'm out there is great. I have smaller ones for the front steps and this one for lighting the whole porch/deck. It comes with a nice long cord to connect to the solar panel so is easy to place the panel where it gets adequate sun and the light unit can be placed where it's most convenient. I haven't had them a long time, a few months, but they work dependably so far and I'm very happy with them.

We have had this light up on the side of our house now for a few years and it is still working as perfectly.We have the solar panel installed on a south facing wall. The light has worked everyday.Easy too install being solar. really great solar powered security light.

Does what it says

Bought the first one and it failed after very short use I noticed water ingress on the sensor and as I had been delayed in fitting decided to open the case and resealed myself. Put back together, worked for 2 days then failed again. no water inside this time. Decided to buy another maybe bad luck; I have an earlier Frostfire model that has worked faultlessly for 5 years. Refitted the new one worked for 3 days and failed again. This one will now be returned for refund. Need to find another more reliable product now, Sorry Frostfire!

Purchasing several different lights the Frostfire appears to still be working after a couple of years. The other lights had issues with batteries exploding(disintegrating) and light sensors failing and filling with water, then rusting away. This has not happened with the Frostfire for me as yet!Light is not as good as some but does the job, which is all is needed. I would recommend.
