Cracking torch and my new favourite!
Torches are quite a personal thing by the sounds, since many people say they prefer their other model or this isn't as good as it should be for the money etc.For me, having upgraded from a modest 75 Lumen Ring Cyba-Lite LED torch this Ledlenser P7.2 is amazing! The torch is a really nice product. It feels very well built and comes with Duracell batteries, wrist strap and belt holder in the gift box. I registered mine and ledlenser have given me a 7 year warranty! That can't be bad.The light output is simple staggering, especially on the full zoom mode. It can illuminate house roofs all the way down the street. On the wide mode you have a lovely wide clear circle of white light too. The focus is fully adjustable from wide to zoom and the movement is nice a smooth. There are a few dark areas that come in about half way but overall, very impressive optics. The feel is spot on. It can feel very cold on first touch but the grip and look of the body is very pleasing. It has a lovely weight. 4 x AAA cells probably add to this but it doesn't feel awkward when holding it. It is very well balanced.Battery life seems ok thus far. I have no idea if it will last as long as the specifications state but in every day or occasional use I don't think even on high power mode it will be a problem.Moving on to the power modes, the button use is a bit odd and perhaps the only downside to me. I would have liked to have had the option to have the torch give you MAX power and stay on. The situation is you have to half press the button for this mode. Think of it exactly like a camera shutter button where you half press to focus. This gives you the max 320 lumens power. I would have preferred this to latch on and perhaps time out after a period of time if running this damages the torch. Either that or don't sell it as 320 lumens.Realistically I can never see me wanting to hold the button down (half press) ever, it's just too awkward. For a torch you want to press a button and it's on.It can be used for signalling of course, such as Morse code.Thankfully the first full click gives you full power mode (250 lm) which is bright enough for sure. The second click is low power (40 lm) mode and seems to be much more like my old torch, perhaps a bit brighter! One of the main complaints we see in the comments is regulation, where the torch will remain on and bright before simply switching off very quickly when the batteries fall to a certain voltage. The ledlenser has no circuitry to regulate the power so the torch will gradually get dimmer as the batteries wear down. There are pros and cons to both designs (simple circuitry and less power use without regulation vs always having a full brightness for a longer duration) but I don't think this is going to cause a problem in my use. If you want this, you will have to choose another torch. The battery holder is nicely made and seems very high quality. For being waterproof, which of course it's not, it is only splash resistant really, this if fine for regular and some harsh use.If you are looking for dunking your torch underwater then you will need to look elsewhere. The belt holder is a little tight, but it fits fine. You want it on the snug side anyway. The torch would have to go in with the lens end up, so the button end goes in first. You can purchase some neat accessories for this torch too such as the bike handle bar holder to turn the torch into a serious bike light!Others are turning the torch into a cone warning light or there is the magnetic mounting and filters etc.Yes, the torch has no way to stop it rolling off a table (there is an accessory for that though!) and you could moan about the really thin wrist strap and the button modes but this is such a lovely and well made torch with fantastic light output you can be nothing but pleased with it.Torches have come a long way from the first LED bulb I put in to my Mini Maglight which took 2 AA batteries. This Ledlenser blows that away.I have been after this torch for a long time and I have no regrets on the purchase!

A Bright Little Light
PROS1. At 13 cm of length and 175 g of weight P7.2 is comparatively small and light. It is not keychain small, but is just the right size and will fit comfortably in your palm and pocket (Please, see Picture 1 below).2. The patented advanced focus system combines lens and reflector to deliver a powerful and homogenous flood beam. It is considerably brighter than my older non-LED 3D Streamlight (which is a much bigger and heavier piece of equipment), so that should give you an idea. Even in broad daylight the beam looks bright and consistent (Please, see Pictures 2, 8 and 9 below).3. The head of the flashlight can be pushed/pulled back and forth, sliding along the body’s axis (“speed focus”), which allows focusing from flood to spot. This is a unique and handy feature that LED Lenser claims can be operated with one hand. The compact size of the torch with the head pushed all the way in is 13 cm and the size with it retracted – longer by 1 cm. (Please, see Pictures 4 and 5 below).4. The improved dynamic switch on the end cap offers three levels of brightness (power, low power, boost). You can press on it lightly to get an instant bright beam or switch it on in two different power positions. Its larger size makes it easier to operate with gloves on. (Please, see Picture 3 below).5. The flashlight uses 4 AAA batteries, which is one more than what you would expect from a flashlight of this size (batteries are actually housed side by side in a circle, rather than one after the other in a line along the axis). This helps boost the brightness and improves longevity, so having to buy an extra battery is a small price to pay for a more effective beam. (Please, see Pictures 6 and 7 below).6. The body crafted from aircraft grade aluminium feels nice to the touch and is sturdy.7. Matt black “frost” finish (powder coating) which is fingerprint resistant, and provides a stronger grip.8. Beautiful design with red accents (Please, see Pictures 3 and 8 below).9. Comes with a bracelet-type carry loop and a handy pouch with a belt clip (Please, see Picture 10, 11, 12 and 13 below).CONS1. Although the mat finish is beautiful and is not prone to smudges, it seems easy to scratch – much more so than Maglite’s glossy finish for example.2. The pouch is smallish and very tight and you have to apply considerable force to push the flashlight in. Since the “speed focus” element (head of the flashlight) is retractable, it will move uncomfortably while pushing the torch into the pouch. Additionally, the pouch has several cut-offs, so there are numerous scenarios where the flashlight will be in the pouch and will still get damaged. (Please, see Picture 10, 11, 12 and 13 below).3. P7.2 is quite expensive.CONCLUSIONLED Lenser seems to have found the sweet spot with P7.2. The flashlight is small and light enough, but its powerful beam rivals much bigger and heavier flashlights. P7.2 packs several state-of-the-art features that make operation easier and more efficient. Design and craftsmanship are both superb. The pouch is a bit on the small side, but will come in handy. As long as you do not mind paying a premium price, LED Lenser P7.2 will not disappoint.

Lens and light
LED Lenser P7.2 German Aluminum LED Flashlight (Black) Excellent product in compact size. Easy to operate. Design and finish is quite good.No three stage light brightness as described in the enclosed leaflet. Has only two stage light brightness - Full bright and power saving less brightness mode.Accompanying belt pouch is too tight to push it in and take it out! Needs redesign.!There seems some ambiguity between P7.2 and P7.2 Blister models. The one I bought was billed as Blister but there is no mention as Blister on the torch but is mentioned in the enclosed instruction leaflet!!?? Some information is available on the net as Blister models are marketed only in few countries. The US and UK model P7.2 (no Blister) have only two stage power output. Both the manufacturer and the sellers should clear the doubts between these two models and as well as the the different power outputs! ESPECTACULAR LUZ !!!!!!!
