It might be centuries before its radioactive awfulness dies down enough to make it watchable, even as kitsch. Mannequin is notionally a romantic comedy in which Andrew McCarthy plays a luckless department store employee and Kim (Sex and the City) Cattrall is an Egyptian Princess reincarnated as a shop window dummy, who comes to life when she encounters McCarthy, only to revert to mannequin status when anyone but McCarthy is watching her. With her encouragement, he becomes emboldened in his career as a window decorator as well as falling in love with the Princess. James Spader's oily, stammery executive is just one of the many examples of a film that tries way too hard to be funny, the sort of characterisation that would be barely adequate for a comic TV ad, let alone a 90-minute movie. Still, for fans of Sex and the City who might want to feast upon the spectacle of a younger Kim Cattrall, Mannequin might offer a measure of relief. This is a really fun movie !! And the DVD is so cheap !
I remembered watching this when I was much younger - and the movie still stands up now! Jonathan Switcher is moving from job to job, never holding one down for a minute - until he inadvertantly "saves" the owner of a large, well known but now failing department store, from certain death over a falling ovber head sign! And being the creative chap that he is, he is offered a job on the spot by the owner, working in the window design section making Manequins. While creating his latest stunningly beautiful mannequin, it comes to life !! the lovely Kim Cattrall plays the part well and helps Jonathan design windows that draw in the crowds again and the store flourishes. But all is not good as the rival store wants in !! It's a riotous comedy with excellent performances by Catrall as the manequin, Andrew McCarthy as Jonathon Switcher and a real gem of a star, Meshach Taylor as Jonathan's flamboyantly gay assistant, Hollywood. I love it! Can't believe the DVD was only a fiver! Go get it!

Fabulous feel good movie
This quirky film manages to take the Pygmalion idea and apply it to a big department store, where a window dresser meets a dummy brought to life as Emmy, a feisty Egyptian girl who did'nt like the life planned for her, and is skipping through time looking for her Mr. Right.Mr. Right turns out to be an aspiring window dresser who could (with her help) produce the store windows that will turn around the fortunes of a struggling but loveable store.For anyone who's ever wanted to run wild in a department store at night when no-one else is there, this is total wish fulfilment. The scenes where they play with the contents of the store each night, when Emmy comes to life, are wonderful fun. Hang gliding from the top of the store down to the bottom is a great idea.Full of great characters, both heroes and villains, and some very funny scenes involving a neurotic bulldog, vengeful ex-girlfriend, and flamboyant window dresser, as well as a wicked rival store owner.It's great, just watch it.

The film is good to watch but can be a bit slow in places. But worth watching.

Comedy to watch
I found that this movie exists because of one very nice song so after searching,I couldn’t do anything else then buy it and watch it.DVD arrived promptly and in good qualityIt is a lovely comedy
