Great piece of kit would suggest it to anyone for clearing space on your Appel kit.
Some may call this an expensive card reader but I don't as I was looking for something that can free up space on my iPhone and iPad. This does this with ease I just pop in a micro SD card and remove my pictures and video and at anytime I can plug it back in and send them or view them. Once the card is full I put in another card and I can catalogue the cards and keep them for ever, u don't want to be doing that with exspencive flash sticks, puls I use this to view my video and camera pictures on my iPad straight from my Virb camera.

Brilliant external storage for iPad
Some background - I am a grandfather who has thousands of photos of granddaughter and family that I used to store and view on a PC and then a laptop. I stopped using these and changed to an iPad some years ago. I can do everything on the iPad that I once used the laptop and PC for - except store all my picture files, due to the iPad’s limited storage. I have used various forms of Cloud storage but had to use several different ones to accommodate all my files. For years I, like many other people, have searched for a device on which to store files, which could then be plugged into my iPad. Unlike android tablets which can connect to external storage and also accept an SD card, I found nothing other than wireless devices which I found to be a bit ‘hit and miss’. On my latest search I came across several storage devices which connect to the iPad’s lightning socket, but they had their own internal storage - no use to me since my files were on a micro SD card (files downloaded to it when I had an android tablet). I then came across this iExpand Portable Storage Memory Stick that accepts a micro SD card. Too good to be true? I contacted the supplier to check that this is what I needed, and received a prompt reassuring reply - so bought it! It is brilliant. Once I downloaded the App it recognised the iPad and the external device as soon as I connect it to the iPad. I was able to access and view all files (stored on the card) on the iPad. It also has a USB connector so can be used to download files from your PC or laptop and then view on the iPad. Why didn’t someone produce this device years ago to save iPad users tearin their hair out with frustration. Highly recommended.

OK but with fitting problems
Pros:- no cap to get lost- can change memory cards for different capacities and speeds- can take cards up to 512GB- associated app (iExpand) is plain and simple- can play media on iPad directly from USB device without having to transfer it to the iPad first- Apple certified compatibilityCons:- doesn't fit if you have a case on your iPad/iPhone, it should have a deeper shoulder to allow for cases- the body is too wide/fat, can't use it next to another USB device in Mac (and other) laptops; need to use a USB extension lead- whilst it feels robust and the slider is somewhat stiff initially, I wonder how lose it may become over time- app seems to need a double copy action to move media from anything other than Photos (1. copy media from app such as VLC into local holding area on iPad, 2. copy from local holding area onto USB device; instead of direct copy from VLC to USB device)(Note that I tested this device with a SanDisk Ultra microSDHC UHS-I card, 16GB; which is a high speed card)

It works! and initially exceeded expectations, BUT .....
Reasonably well made, you download an app to drive the widget with.backed up ALL my iphone photos onto a removable SD card in minutes, no complicated nonsense plugging in to PC/laptop/notebook with itunes/iphoto/security messages popping up. So get y'self a few SD cards, a data-wallet and a sharpie pen to label them with. worth the money.*However*, all the original creation/modified dates are wiped and you end up with files all dated the date and time of the transfer. And the selection criteria for which files to copy/backup are clunky. And when it's a few thousand pix it can take so long that the battery starts to die before you're through.

Works just fine for what it does
The item appeared as ordered and I fitted the micro SD card (bought separately) and downloaded the App to my iPhone. The sales data is not the clearest in my opinion as it basically has a male lightning fitting on one end and a male USB fitting on the other. The slider on the side pushes one end in and the other out as needed. It worked perfectly well for backing up phone contacts though I've not checked how that could be re-used again. Photos and movies taken on the phone can be downloaded and then copied to my PC very easily. Files can also be copied from the PC and then watched on the phone, including two movie formats that I've tried so far. Personally I'd like to have seen a small case for it to protect one or the other end that always projects out. I've put it in a smallish case that I had for earbuds. I very much like it but would also like to have say copied a Microsoft Word document onto it and then read it using Word on my phone but it does not seem to be able to do that. Overall, it is restricted in what it can do but what it does it is very good at.

Just what the doctor ordered.
After years of managing the storage on my iOS devices by deleting files, some of which I’ve really not wanted to and not wishing to store some data in the cloud this arrived to save the day. Using the device is really simple. Once you install the accompanying app it so easy to add files to or from your iOS device. Through the app you can also view files on the installed SD card (purchased separately). This together with the integrated lightening and USB connectors make it so easy to switch between devices and operating systems and view the same files. No longer do you have to purchase an iOS device based solely on its integrated storage capacity or indeed replace one due to its lack of storage. This little device is a super hero.

Dont bother!
I normally do not write reviews, but I keep this simple and straight to point.I bought 0GB version so I can use SDCARD.Firstly SD card formatted in anything other then "FAT" does not work.Second the biggest problem is the app it uses, iExpand, some rubbish with low App store rating.I could not play any of my media files from SD card, using iPhone 8 - latest firmware. No where iOS 13 ready..So money wasted again - 3rd time I got duped by cheap deals.
