The key to that is managing the upkeep without feeling flustered. It covers everything from properly executing a living room floor plan to setting a formal table; from choosing HEPA filters to sealing soapstone countertops; from organizing your home office to polishing your silver and caring for family heirlooms. Martha Stewart’ s Homekeeping Handbook is organized for clarity and maximum practicality: Room by Room covers the upkeep of the appliances, tools, furnishings, and surfaces found in each room, from the entryway to the kitchen, from the attic to the laundry room. Throughout the House instructs the reader on the proper ways to routinely clean and periodically maintain everything in the home, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, polishing, scrubbing, waxing and much more. Comfort and Safety focuses on techniques to ensure your home is running properly and safely, such as recognizing when to clean vents, fixing a leaky faucet, and eradicating pests. A-to-Z Materials Guide provides an invaluable resource that explains the unusual materials that many favorite objects are made of–from abalone to zinc–and how to care for them so they last. Encyclopedic yet friendly, Martha Stewart’s Homekeeping Handbook is a seminal work–a must-have for everyone who wants a well-cared-for home that will endure for generations. Review: WORTH EVERY PENNY - I have resisted buying this book for ages because of the expense but, in a weak moment, I treated myself. I am a big fan of Martha Stewart's practical approach to just about anything. I wish that I hadn't waited so long. This is a very useful book. The sort of manual that you buy once and refer to over a period of years whenever you are stumped about how to deal with something. It is like having your granny on the bookshelf or a modern-day enquire within. I would highly recommend this book and think it is brilliant value for money. Review: Very useful! - Amazing book. Great quality print, and great tips. Haven't read it all, because frankly I think it's the kind of book you read from when you have a question, but so far I found it very informing. It also has a great plastic cover on top that protects it. I have to admit the size makes it a bit difficult to hold while reading, but I guess it gives you a bit of a workout while reading.

This should be called cleaning encyclopedia
Thats exactly what it is, you have great references, how to clean nearly anything and everything. Its kinds of cleaning household manual. It is not one of those books from Martha you would go through it in few days from front to back BUT it is great book to have at home and use it as needed. I have been very happy with the book and would recommened to any household small or big for the great tips!

Incredibly useful book to have. Some of it we all know if you have common sense, but very much worth getting if you like to keep a nice house.

Very thorough homekeeping book
The only reason why I gave this book 5 stars is because I don't believe Martha Stewart wrote any of this- apart from a few personal words before each chapter. This book is written by professionals within specific industries linked to homekeeping and is therefore very detailed and specific- to the point I felt a little bored. With soo much information- I finished the book without remembering much- I felt a little overwhelmed by the sheer facts and instructions. As someone who (don't laugh) enjoys homekeeping books I would definitely recommend, this is a book I would use as a homekeeping reference/ encyclopedia. I would not buy if your after a quick read on how to improve ones homekeeping.

An encyclopaedia of housekeeping!
Martha Stewart's massive (744 pages) "Homekeeping" book is fantastic with answers to just about any question any young or old homekeeper may have. It is divided up into seven sections, starting with how to use the book and what basic cleaning products you should have. The book progresses through a room to room look at the house and at how to clean every room, comfort and safety in your house, moving and a material guide.

Amazing book.
I've been searching for such a book for a long time, it's the most complete book on homekeeping I have ever came across, it's got so much information and tips on how and when to clean and organize basically any room in your house. I can be helpful for anyone, whatever your space looks like, there's a lot of what I like to call "grandma recipes" which is very great. It was definitely well worth buying and will probably keep it until I pass it on to the next generation !
