Mercers Furniture Corona Plant Stands - Pine, Set of 3

1 star only cos I couldn’t give zero.
Got 1 star cos couldn’t give zero. My first Mercer’s furniture and based on this experience, never again. Where to start. The legs are at least 1/2 the width they ought to be. They measure 4cm x 2cm. Shouldn't they be 4x4 so as to be square in shape? The pictures make them look nice and square and sturdy when they’re not. Time the law changed to include pictures as part of the actual description and they mustn’t be misleading just like the wording and any verbal exchange. Even though I know the pics don’t have to be true, I’m still visual, like all humans are so I’ve been done on a few occasions. All 3 were a nightmare to put together and I’m not a novice at flat pack and the use of wooden dowels etc..... Each ‘table’ had the same problem as the others, the wooden dowels were so tight in the holes, they were kinda squashed out into the joins and adjacent pieces couldn’t make a decent join, even using the absolutely necessary mallet. The pocket drill holes weren’t right as none of the screws disappeared from view inside the pockets. They especially needed to be right here so you could get the drawers in the drawer space. I changed all the screws for smaller headed ones and just managed to get the first drawer in with some jiggling. One of the drawers falls out as soon as you look at it and another is so tight you can’t move it, so can’t ever use that one. On three separate occasions, screws began to split the surface of the wood on the finished visible side. After the first one I didn’t trust they’d got the angle of the holes with the length of screws right at all. Clearly, they hadn’t. Luckily you can’t actually see where the surface is effected by the screws beginning to break through. Really wish I’d spent more and just bought one decent plant stand. They look ok when made up (too light in weight though and I do not expect the legs to last long at all) but now I just want to throw myself in the nearest river, after throwing them in first of course. If you want to keep your sanity, do not order this set. You will be confirming to yourself all the way through making them up that being able to use a drill and following instructions does not a chippy make and you could’ve done a better job yourself, given just half a chance. What I really want to do is ask for a refund and return them as is. Watch this space! Don’t know about you but my free time is worth an obscene amount of money, so I’m loathe to waste more of it undoing something someone else ‘implied’ was worth doing in the first place. Believe me, it is not.

Attractive furniture and good value.
Attractive plant stand. Pretty easy to put together and look fine. Not the sturdiest but when you look at the price and the fact you get three gives you an idea of what you’re getting for your money. Plus the Corona range is cheap but aesthetically pleasing, so can’t complain really. If you’re expecting more than this for your money you’re not from this world.

Terrible, thrown away
This were one of the worst flat packed items I have ever tried to put together in my longish life. The supplier was willing to refund them but after I had used woodglue to try and make them sturdier the wood completely broke apart when trying to disassembling them. I gave up and just took them to the dump. Costly lesson but I’ve learned it for sure! Don’t buy it’s a waste of money!

Poor quality and difficult to assemble
The quality of this item was very poor. Wooden legs of tables were bowed and tables wobbled. Some holes were pre drilled and some were not. There were some holes drilled in the wrong places. My husband is a tradesmen and this took hours to put together and overall a very disappointing self assembly purchase

Look and sturdy
I use it as a plant table. It has okay instructions to assemble but a bit awkward. Could have been clearer. Wood is easy to break, split or crack if heavy handed. But it does the job once up look nice.
