I used these on a bead lathe so they felt oversized but that is because I used them on a bead lathe. You can see the size difference in the photo. That being said they were sharp out the box, no burs and good finish on the steel, handles felt secure and have a good weight for the tool. They have a short blade, I would imagine this is for a few reasons, one being the tool should never be that far from the rest and the longer handle gives more control when doing the 'turners dance' . I always feel in control of the tool and it cuts fine with very little catches, I've not used a lathe in 2r years so I would imagine that was me.In short I reccomend these tools to anyone looking into turning. Good thickness, really good handles for control and no bother to use. With a lifetime guarantee to boot well worth it

As I’m new to woodturning I’ve had to outlay for a lathe and various bits and bobs. I couldn’t quite get my head around dropping another couple of hundred on a top name set of chisels. However I wanted to get started and there’s lots to learn so I thought these would be worth a go. The good points: they work fine and you can’t beat the price. They sharpen easy and I don’t feel like I need to stop working to resharpen every five minutes. The bad points: the handles and overall length are a little short so they feel like my training baby chisels. They arrived in an open box with sharp edges protruding, luckily not damaged and the amazon driver seemed unharmed.Overall they fulfilled my expectations and I’m gradually improving the bevels and cutting edges to a high shine. Managed to produce some decent work with them too. I will plan to gradually invest in grown up chisels as my skill level improves.

As a beginner to wood turning, this set is really good for the price. They work very well for spindles, but don't use them on any bowls, which you would need to buy bowl gouges. The chisels get dull quite quickly though. I later bought a credit-card size sharpener to sharpen the tools.

I’ve given these an average star rating because they’re truly not great, require constant sharpening, and the finish on the handle is horrific.BUT they’re cheap, give you plenty of sharpening practice, and I sanded and waxed the handles so they’re much better now.All in all for the money they kinda do the trick and force you to learn how to sharpen - which is a necessary skill anyway

They are never going to be the best quality, but I've had great results from these, and they are so much cheaper than other options. I'm a total amateur and don't yet have a good eye for quality but I have used enough tools in my life to recognise these are fine for amateur use.

Being new to using a lathe, I purchased this set hoping to gain experience with wood turning. So far they have met my expectations.
