Real value for the money
It can be a puzzle as to which watch you are getting because there are minor differences between them but I am talking about the x1. It comes with a substantial good quality leather strap which is long enough for the thickest of wrists. The lume of the watch is very good and the date is adequately magnified. Over the days I have had it ,it keeps time. I previously had a seiko kinetic, an early example, which while it lasted gave a good performance but it eventually succumbed to a rather expensive ailment, however it was three times the price of this Pulsar. So if you are looking for real value - here you have found it, this is a solid working watch with clear number markings. The case is a dull grey so this is a watch that has an understated elegance. This watch is not bling. It is big but not too big, however if you are a big man then this is the watch for you as it is for me.

Quality medium-sized watch.
Very pleased with this.I have fairly narrow wrists for a man (16cm circumference / approx 6cm wide) so I find the recent trend for huge watches annoying as they look ridiculous on me. There are still a few holes left on the strap too - very unusual for me.At 38mm diameter (that's the case outer size), this is definitely a good size for me.It has a nice matt/brushed steel finish case and good slight-padded leather strap (not massively thick compared to others I've had, but suits the watch) with a polished steel buckle. All the numbers and divisions are clear. The overall look is understated and feels good quality. The date magnifier is a new thing to me. It certainly helps viewing the date, but will take a little bit of getting used to as it does stand out from the otherwise perfectly flat glass. Someone on here has suggested this can be removed with heat but I'm not going to risk it.The automatic/kinetic movement is easy to get going. There is a noticeable rattle whilst doing the initial "charging" but during normal wearing you might occasionally hear something, no more than that of a metal bracelet (if that's an appropriate comparison for a man's watch!) The change in my pocket makes more noise.I'm looking forward to having this for many years - and not having to change a battery!

good watch no batteries required
It's a bit bulky compared to my previous metal strapped one but working very well at least running for two days off wrist.Cheaper to buy a new one than get the old one serviced. How ridiculous!

Cheap. Accurate. What More Would You Want?
I bought this watch at the beginning of February 2015. I love it; it looks good (clear and readable face); it glows well in the dark (thus allaying my fear of waking in the middle of the night and not knowing what the time is!) and it's very high quality for the price. The only thing I don't like, and the reason it doesn't get all five stars, is the magnifying lens over the date window, which gets in the way and for me at least makes the date very difficult to read unless I awkwardly twist my wrist. I have read reviews complaining about the noise that the Kinetic generation system makes; I also own a Seiko Titanium Kinetic (an earlier model; I think I've owned it for at least ten years), and they make the same noise exactly. If I wave my wrist about and listen for the noise I can hear it, but otherwise I really don't notice. I actually find the noise rather pleasant! By far the best thing about this watch, though, is its accuracy: I had to alter it over this weekend (28th and 29th March 2015) as the clocks in the UK changed to British Summer Time, and in the two months I've owned it, it had gained about one second. For the price (about a fifth of the cost of my Seiko) that's amazing. Highly recommended for those of you that want a handsome, accurate watch that doesn't yell BLING!!! at everybody and which won't bankrupt you ...

No Nonsense!
Excellent clear reliable watch. Accurate, far more than mechanical watches, especially ones with stupid prices. Kinetic no fuss power from arm movement. Yes you can here the very slight sound of it rotating to gather the energy, but so does my seiko premier kinetic perpetual which costs 10 times as much, its reassuring and I dont notice it. The date enlarger is useful. The lug width is 20mm if you want to vary the strap. The strap provided is fine but if you want to swim wearing it then change it for a nato/zulu or silicone type. I have it on a tyre tread silicone strap and it looks great. Al in all if you like military or minimalist watches and not all the bling stuff the I am sure you wont be disappointed with this robust watch, which is great value.

Just the job
Wow, what a bargain!I love this watch, it's the perfect 'daily', All my other watches are a lot more expensive. They have a polished finish and are 'scratch magnets' so I only wear them on special occasions. This watch is now my daily, go-to time-piece.The leather strap with the white stitching that comes with it really doesn't suit it at all. I put it on a military-style, black 'canvas' (nylon) strap, which completed its 'field watch' look and is also much more comfortable. It only cost me £2.50 (oh no). Now this watch looks 'the business' and I'm proud to have it in my collection. What more could you ask for from a daily wristwatch? ....It has a military look so 'dings and scratches' will only make it look more 'authentic'.It’s water resistant to 100 metres so (with a nylon canvas strap fitted) it doesn't matter if you get it wet. It’s shock-resistant and has a Seiko Kinetic movement so it keeps really good time and doesn't need a battery. It has a date complication with a ‘cyclops magifier’ for those with poor eyesight. It’s less than £75. That's a lot of watch for the money. It's less expensive than a Casio G-Shock and looks a lot nicer too (IMHO).What's not to like? Bravo, well done Pulsar (aka. Seiko's cheap brand name).
