Awful
I did not realise at first that the lathe will not turn pieces concentrically because the tailstock centre rests a few millimetres below centre. This is a serious hardware problem which the manufacturer would have overlooked or simply not tested, leaving me with a lathe that cannot turn reliably. I feel cheated out of my money as it has been a recurring problem since I first used it, although I did not know why at first. It is evident that no quality control for this product exists.Other features are not user-friendly such as speed adjustment, which is achieved by opening up the lathe by two screws and manually loosening, adjusting and tightening the belt and screwing the lathe shut again. The same can be said for the tool guard and tailstock, which must both be fastened in place by a wrench each time adjustment is needed.

Burnt out motor after ten bowls
These lathes do not like repeated starting and stopping ie when you are sanding and finishing, the motor burns out. My last one of these lathes lasted two months and only made ten small bowls. But on the plus side because I bought from Amazon they do keep replacing it on a next day service. When working it is a nice beginners lathe.

Great entry level Lathe
I got this lathe Second hand and it has worked faultlessly ever since, It doesn't do some of the things that higher end lathes will and changing the speed is fiddly, but it is solid and dependable. and a great introduction to a wood lathe.

Not a user friendly Wood Lathe.
I fund this Wood Lathe very hard to use. I am not an expert but having to use a spanner each time I need to make an adjustment too the chisel rest was very irritating. It would have been nice to have a quick release handle. The motor is a bit week not really strong enough for the size of wood that it can take.Speed change is not easy. This was my first Wood Lathe but I returned it.My only recommendation is to spend a little more and get a better make. Finally, keep away from using cheap Chisel Set. It can be very dangers.

would give a better review if I could get a new handle (wheel)
Unit was delivered in time - no problem, but the handle (wheel) on the tailstock was smashed in pieces as was the polystyrene packing.would give a better review if I could get a new handle (wheel).

Very poor quality and not fit for purpose
Ok I did not buy from Amazon but from fox. On first look it seems okay, very long lathe bead, many different speeds and easy enough to get a chuck adapter to fit standard chucks. Now all the bad points and there are many. Both the lathe rest and end stop are adjusted by a nut that is hidden under the lathe bed by using a separate spanner making in very difficult to quick adjust. The paint on the lathe bed chips off easily. The motor is underpowered and overheats causing cutouts while the motor cools down. The lathe itself is extremely noisy and sounds like it is running with dry bearings. Speed change is difficult and in my case the bottom pulley was loose and had to be returned to factory. Mine has just been returned after motor overheated and conked out and that was only after trying to turn a 6 inch piece of sapele wood for a small bowl. There are no mt1 or mt2 fittings available and I question how you replace the tail stock centre because it looks and feels very cheap style. Overall it is cheap but even at this price it is very, very poor. Thankfully I didn’t have to pay postage for return to factory. Save your money and go for something like the record dml 305 or for juniors the dml250 or for something in the Axminster range of lathes which are all good machines. It may be more expensive but the quality is far superior
