Anyone who is homesick for South African food needs this book!

This book is packed full of lovely recipes

This is a really good cookbook but many recipes aren't actually South African (an obvious example: red velvet cupcakes!). The recipes that I've tried have been very good, though, and the milk tart recipe is beautiful. Worth buying but a slightly deceptive title.

bought this as a Christmas present for my Daughters Partner . He emigrated with his parentsat the age of 4 & grew up in South Africa.This book brings back lots of memories for him & he was really chuffed with it.

We recently bought the book and used the Old Fashioned Aniseed Rusk Recipe with superb results. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for 'egte Suid Afrikaanse' Recipes.

Fantastic selection of South African recipes. Beautifully presented

While there are some very interesting recipes in here I was left disappointed on several levels, first by the number of recipes calling for pre-made products like custard yoghurt or even store bought bread dough. When I get a cookbook I am expecting to be told on how to make food from scratch not just go to store buy and then warm in the oven. The most dissapointed in the fact that less than 10% of the book is actually south african food, I bought this book in order to give my partner a taste of her childhood instead I found various Italian recipes and a paltry handful of food from South Africa and only a single recipe for Potjie. Very dissapopinted, but looking forward to expanding on it as a base cookbook.

Absolutely love this recipe book. I am South African and a lot of recipes are very traditional and some not, still great though. I bought it as a gift for someone but will definitely by myself one as well.

Love my SA cookbook. I’ve tried a few recipes and it was delicious.

there are very few recipes in this book that I do not have in other cookbooks, i.e. tiramisu, banana bread, blini etc.I was expecting recipes with more local ingredients.
