Waterman Fountain Pen Ink | Intense Black | 50ml Bottle

I have recently decided to treat myself to writing with a fountain pen again (haven't used one since the early 1980s at secondary school) and figured I would get ink in my favourite colour. Waterman is a name I know and recognise as being an exceptional brand - or at least it was in the 80s. This led me to choose this ink option - the final decision being made because they had a purple. The bottle it comes in is absolutely beautiful. Lovely faceted shape in a thick glass. No tear off internal cap, instead the inside of the lid is cushioned to provide the seal. Love this as no chance of spilling the ink when trying to open it. I'm using it with a fountain pen that has a refillable ink cartridge but it could easily be used with dip pens. The colour is a lovely rich violet purple and I found the ink flowed smoothly and has a good, even coverage. 50ml is a great size bottle and will last me for a really long time, even if I was going to be using this for illustrating so getting through a lot of ink the price is very pocket friendly.

A recent convert to fountain pens I wanted to experience different inks, predominantly using Waterman pens I chose to start with their own inks, having used the black for quite a while I knew the quality is excellent. Using a Waterman Allure with the Waterman converter this ink exceeded my expectations! It's a beautiful subtle purple which flows freely, it doesn't flood and dries pretty quickly. The resulting words on a page take on a different aspect, it's very pleasing to the eye and I will definitely buy again soon! Summary....for a different look then this ink will fulfill your dreams, excellent quality and superb packaging...the bottle can be rested on its side when it gets low to make it easier to refill your pen. 100% recommended!

Excellent Ink. If your pen doesn't behave with this ink, then your pen needs either an overhaul or something needs replacing. It works great on the usual fountain pen friendly paper, like Rhodia and Clairfontaine, it even does fine on decent notebooks when using a F or EF Nib. Some commenters have remarked that it bleeds when a lot of ink is applied to the paper, but the vast majority of inks will when using nibs medium or larger, if they aren't pigment or Iron Gall types, so choose an ink that suites your pen and paper choice. Waterman Serenity Blue is a superb middle of the road ink, and it's a lovely shade of Blue suitable for everyday use. I personally prefer to use it with a Fine Nib.

I purchased this product based on its value for money, it was not to be used as pen ink, but as a method of staining wood, coverage was very good, so you could say it is very versatile. I used it on light white wood and with just one coat is was as black as I wanted it, it also brought out the detail in the wood grian iteself, which was what I was after. I used a spirit based hard wax as a finish and had no problems, so woood is now water resistant and very durable.

Having used several Waterman bottled inks over many years, I was delighted to find that the Harmonious Green continues in the tradition of manufacturing excellence I have come to expect. It is easy to become swayed by the plethora of 'trendy' inks presently available, but Waterman continues quietly to do the business in it's steadfast way. No clogging, no bleeding, loads of character and shading. It exudes quality, and always draws me back when I've been tempted, and usually disappointed by the latest fashion. Best of all, though, is the fact that the use of green ink, in less enlightened times, was generally associated with a touch of insanity - it's worth using for that reason alone! 10/Aug/2016. Stop press! I've just received a bottle of Waterman black ink, which I ordered for use in my Cross Townsend fountain pen. Having paid the best part of £200 for the pen some time ago, I naturally thought that Cross ink would be the most suitable ink to put through it. I was wrong. If I picked up the pen to use it after a few days of not being written with, it would never write without me forcing ink into the nib by twisting the converter plunger. This was so annoying, especially given the cost of the pen. Once again, Waterman ink has come up trumps. After loading it into the Townsend I picked the pen up after a week of inactivity, and it wrote properly straight away. The other thing I noticed was that the ink line from the medium nib was subtly different from the line I got with the Cross ink, being almost like I would expect from a fine nib, but it looks good on Rhodia paper. Once again, Waterman ink has belied it's modest price, and come to the rescue. Ordered as usual from K Direct

Tinten von Waterman haben im allgemeinen den Ruf, sich im Füllfederhalter besonders «gut zu benehmen»: der Tintenfluss ist regelmäßig und zuverlässig, und der Füller lässt sich leicht von Tintenresten reinigen. Die schwarze Tinte von Waterman ist, im Vergleich zu anderen Farben dieser Marke, wasserresistenter (wenn man schnell dabei ist, hält sie ein paar Regentropfen oder einen umgekippten Tee aus, ohne gleich gant weggewaschen zu werden). Auch ist sie, wie andere Waterman-Tinten, 'dünner' als z.B. handelsübliche Tinten von u.a. Pelikan oder Lamy, weswegen sie in eher trocken fließenden Füllern angenehmer in dr Verwendung ist. Dabei ist sie im Vergleich zu anderen Marken auch preiswert. Das einzige, was man Waterman Schwarz vorwerfen könnte, ist dass sie nicht wirklich tief schwarz ist, sondern eher sehr tief dunkelgrau – was aber meinem Geschmack sehr gut passt und einen sanfteren Eindruck macht.

Excellent fountain pen inks with very reliable performance. The red is bright and vibrant, the blue is a classic everyday color, and the green is rich and pleasant on the page. All three inks flow smoothly and are well balanced—not too wet and not too dry—so they work well in different fountain pens. The 50 ml glass bottles are also practical and good value.
