Excellent mower - and provides all the value for money
I have now used it for few months - and I can certainly say this product does it job perfectly. I did opt for this manual one due to its lesser cost than the electric and diesel ones and was wondering if it would be worth. however, I can now say that it is a excellent mower and ideal for a small to medium garden. You may have to do two passes instead of one to get a clean cut but it works on grass, weeds.Only thing to be careful about is that you dont get cotton or things like that stuck in the blade. its there in the manual also to get things cleared before you start the mowing. It is definitely worth the money.Additional plus points - easy to assemble, maintain and reached me very fast once I placed the order.

Ok but not for long grass
It's light, easy to assemble and delivery was swift. It is not great at cutting long grass. Fairly short grass is fine. Medium length grass requires a lot of time spent freeing the jammed blades. Long grass is almost entirely an exercise in repeatedly freeing the blades. My garden is not a great garden for any mower and this does work well provided I do not let the grass grow too high.UPDATE: I have replaced this with a mower that cuts grass. Various bolts and things kept falling of this one and spending several hours trying to make it back through 10 square metres of grass every few weeks was just too soul destroying.

Handy is quite good
In this review I will not mention the basket as such because I don't use that part of the mower. The design of the mower is much the same as other brand although it has slightly bigger wheels, no bad thing. It is a nice light weight item which would enable the not so fit to cut their lawns without a power mower. Of course this is a money saver item not just the neat low price but overall not having to use electricity or fuels reducing its operating cost to effectively nil over its expected lifetime which will be about 10 to 15 years without repair or replacement of parts. I make this statement on experience having just bought the Handy to replace a similar model that has only had two repairs in the last 3 years and was purchased in 1994. Of the cutting ability the Handy does a good job but I find the position of the cutting blade allows it to pass over the likes of daisy heads without cutting. However I should point out that that may only be due to the thin nature of some areas of my lawn leaving very little for the mower to cut at. Where the grasses grow thicker in my lawn the Handy cuts without issue. Overall satisfaction with this item, it does what it is made to do and at such a good price. Handy makes me Happy!

It does the job as described but it is not ...
It does the job as described but it is not as robust as I'd hoped. It cuts well, but there is a gap between the mower and the grass collector and a lot of the grass does fall through. The collector sits in such a way that it is only able to hold small volumes of grass at a time, otherwise it starts to fall forward. The wheels don't turn all the time if you're pushing on concrete (ie down my driveway to the lawn), but in fairness I've only had it a few days and it may be because it's new?

Very pleased. Good value. Needs care setting up for best results.
Easy to put together. Good quality for price. Used for first time a couple of days ago - a pleasure to use. I have a small lawn area and the job was done in 10 minutes with no cables, carbon emissions or motor noise - just a rather pleasant old fashioned whirr! Setting up the mower is a little fiddly but pays dividends. It is possible with care to set up so that the blades revolve very close to the backplate but do not actually make contact with it - a thin feeler gauge could be used for this purpose. I was pleased with the result and using the mower was a rather nostalgic and pleasant experience. Very good value for money so far but remains to be seen how the mower behaves long term.

Poor cut and collection.
Poor product. If you are very old and just want to push this around once a week it may be for you. Doesn't pick up the grass very well and also cutting is poor. Had to do my small garden several times to get it cut which completely defeated the purpose if buying this product.

Very hard work.
Very hard to use, for anything more than a small patch of grass. The manual recommends oiling the blades after each use, which I failed to do after a single use; a couple of weeks later I had rust marks on the blades. If you use it, at least dry them down after each use. My order was also missing one connector piece associated with the grass catcher, which meant that the grass catcher couldn't be put together: the mower does work as normal without it, as long as you're happy to leave the clippings behind. I didn't attempt to contact the seller for a replacement part so can't comment on service here.

Environmentally friendly!
The written instructions were impossible for me so I turned to the diagram on the last page of the booklet and managed to assemble it. It took me a long time to adjust the blades because, again, I couldn’t understand the instructions. But now it’s working perfectly and I love it! Ideal for my tiny split level lawns. Easy to lift and store.
