Doro Primo 401 UK SIM-Free Mobile Phone - Black

Quite a small basic flip mobile on 2g. It is lightweight, In fact when the box arrives I didn't thnk there was anything in it. Not usual for the Doro phones. This mobile uses a standard (large) sim card (sometimes called a mini sim). The features are easy to use, bright keypad, easy buttons and is quite loud , If you miss a call or text, a blue light will constantly flash on the front which is quite bright and noticeable which i did like. Radio works well but better with earphones plugged in.. It also has top ten numbers function, and a text template function so you can easily send a standard message without typing it out, it's a pity doro didn't keep this function with their other mobiles. Unfortunately in my case the signal i get from this mobile is just not strong enough in the house to make calls or texts well, but can pick up better outside. So unless you get a strong signal at home with your current sim, you might find difficulties with this mobile. The back is quite hard to get off and it fits the whole back of the phone, but once all fitted back, it will stay in place securely. It comes in a box with battery, a usb cable and a plug to use. Overall if you get a good signal it is quite a good basic mobile, It has a criss-cross design on the case which offers a small amount of grip, but it is all plastic. It seems a handy little mobile for trips, camping etc, where you would not take a more expensive phone with you. It would be useful as a backup.

Immediately obvious this is a very sensible phone. If you do not require Smart phone functions which require use of the internet etc then this is a very competent phone. It was a little smaller than I expected (although I could have worked this out from the dimensions if I had noted them) but when open it is a perfectly reasonable size in the hand. The buttons are all very tactile, the display is bright and easy to read. The functions are very simple and intuitive. It has three speed dial buttons reserved so you can assign them to your most frequently dialed numbers. First impressions are very good and I will be interested to see how long a battery charge lasts. The smart phone this replaces needed to be charged without fail every day. The clam shell design ensures the display switches off when it is closed and there are no accidentally dialed calls in the pocket. Really great phone....Update: Dropped a star - the flip display detached from the keypad side of the clam-shell without any degree of mistreatment. It was not easily repairable because the ribbon cable was damaged in the process. As this was only three months after purchase rather disappointing. Liked the phone a lot though so as the price has reduced since purchase have ordered a replacement and hope to avoid similar fate in the future.Update: Dropped another star - messages received do not display the contact name - only the number. This is very inconvenient unless you recognise all your contact numbers.

I RECENTLY RETURNED TO HAVING A DORO (SLIGHTLY MORE CAPABLE THAN THIS MODEL) AND SUGGESTED THIS FOR HIM - IHAD THE SAME PHONE FOR 4 YEARS AND ONLY CHANGED TO A SMARTPHONE WHEN THE CAMERA PACKED UP AND REGRETED IT! FORTUNATLY? THAT WAS STOLEN SO I`M BACK WITH DORO!MY MODEL IS INTERNET CAPABLE I DON`T THINK THIS IS. IF YOU WANT A NICE BASIC PHONE AT A REASONABLE PRICE THIS IS FOR YOU! ON OPENING AND CLOSING IT CAN MAKE THE STAR TREK SOUND SO I REFER TO IT AS MY COMMUNICATOR!

Bought this for my Mum who is a bit of a batty pensioner with shaky hands. She has trouble using the buttons on most phones, the buttons on this are soft touch and larger so easy for her to use. She has no interest in the internet or texting and just needed something simple to make and receive calls. The display is large and easy to see and the menu is easy for her to use and find her contacts. The three speed dial buttons are also great, I saved mine, my brothers and my dads numbers into these so she only has to press one button to call us. She loves it and keeps using it to call me and tell me she loves it. I am safe in the knowledge now that when out and about she wont be stranded on her own without a phone (as long as she remembers to take it with her!).

I bought one of these phones for a spare one,for me to keep by. Just incase. Works great with an 02 sim in it. Had no problems at all. Bought another one for my mother-in- law.She got on with it really well. She loved it. Battery lasts. Only she dropped it once,and it completely fell apart.

This phone has everything needed except it is too small. I needed one with large numbers but it has been used by someone else in the family who like it.

I bought this and unfortunately had to return it. It's a great little phone. It did not take my 3mobile sim. It is a 2g only phone and 3mobile is 3g only. It was very easy to set up and I think my Mum would have got on very well with it. A basic phone and text flip phone with a good clear screen.

My Dad is 82 years Young.He’s not interested in the Internet or taking photos he just wants to be able to make a call.He just want us to be able to contact him.This phone dose everything he needs but looks the partLarge key pad numbers open to make a call & to hang up just close the phoneJob doneCould not recommend this highly enough
