Fantastic Speaker Secretly Trouncing Bose, Sony and Sonos
Had this a couple of months now and I've been really pleased and impressed with it. I am very pleased to have bought this over the Sonos, Bose and Sony offerings at this price point. It works in every respect, and works well and pretty damn classily too. It's Wifi friendly, easy to set up, reliable, stays connected and is always available as a sound output on all the 5000 devices in this house. The app is sleek, modern and easy to use, and makes the perfect accompaniment to this pleasing speaker. It's 100% wireless. THIS is what matters. You can keep this on the charge lead or take it to the middle of a field and use via Bluetooth. It's got everything it needs to be called a, truly, wireless speaker. Also because it is useable as a sound output for any app on your device. Unlike Sonos you can send YouTube, SoundCloud or simply all Airplay sound to this device. That's a huge advantage over some other brands.Used it for a kids party a couple of weeks ago, away from the house running on its battery, which wasn't exactly fully conditioned by this stage. With 4-5 hours play it eventually came home still boasting 60% battery power. It's a little workhorse this thing! It looks great and is highly portable. It's light but still chunky and weighty enough to take a knock and feel well built, which it also is.The 360 degree sound is hugely noticeable and makes a massive difference in comparison to mono-directional speakers. No matter where you are in the room it sounds clear and vibrant, no muffled and muddy sound because you're behind it, there is no behind!I love the radio stations too, I've had these on a lot since getting it, it's made listening to LBC, news and Fun Kids so much easier to do. My 7 year old can work this speaker dead easily. This product deserves 5 stars, but, as a rock musician I may be being slightly selfish here, but I would like more overall power/volume/SPL from this device. 100% volume, for me at least, is just a little bit too weak but I would guess that 90% of people wouldn't agree with me on this. Libratone, give me a few more db's and I'll buy more!!I plan to commit to Libratone now anyway and buy a Zipp mini or two for other rooms in the house, and for the kids.Do not worry about Libratone being a slightly lesser known name in this market, I can happily confirm that this speaker delivers on all expected levels and deserves a much higher profile than it seems to have.A great product you should buy with confidence.UPDATE 31/12/16 - I've taken this speaker with me everywhere over Christmas, to all the family houses on visits and popped it on their wifi to get a few Christmas tunes around the house. It provided music for the entire Christmas dinner from 3pm then through the evening until around 2am all on battery power. I loved showing everyone how I just play my Spotify account through it and bang... whatever you want, wherever you want it, Libratone speakers will make it happen. Have bumped my 4 star review to a 5 star. I now have 4 of these in the house and they have helped me rediscover, and discover new, music. Top marks to the Libratone social media team too who ran an excellent Christmas giveaway campaign... but next time... pick meeeeee :P :). Happy new year, Libratone!

A revealtion
I have put off purchasing a battery powered speaker for several years. Every Summer I research what's available and think on! I had almost decided on the B&O 'battery box', even thought it only had bluetooth and aux in. Thankfully, I looked again and stumbled across the Libratone Zipp. All I can say is if I hadn't I don't think I would be sitting in the garden listening to a perfectly good Airplay rendition of a HiRes album served up by Roon. In other words - a fancy music server converting a 24bit 96Khz album and serving it to the Zipp via Airplay after having processed it down to 16bit and 44.1Khz. That still annoys me - I wish Libratone would deal with higher rates, but even over DLNA (via Qobuz) I found that it all gets down sampled to 16bit 44.1Khz.To be expected. Don't know if Airplay 2 will bring any change to this. But even with this I find that Room plays VERY nicely with the Libratone. Enough to say that I have found that the best tonal quality is WITHOUT an of the DSP effects within Libratone ie opting for the flat response. This is always a sign that the audio equipment is good quality.Forget bluetooth - it's a pain in the rear and best left for hands free calling in the car. WiFi works really well (I did change the SSID of the router to a name with no special characters - apparently that can be a problem) and I have not had a single drop out. Using the radio station facility within Roon has also allowed me to have BBC Radio 3 using its 'HD' stream. The internal radio station facility of Libratone works well enough, but I don't think the provider offers the HD Radio 3 stream - everything else is fine.Definitely portable - the handle comes in use - and reasonably attractive (well...unobtrusive as you would want).Sound quality is better than a Sonos 1 but obviously not as accomplished as a Sonos 5. But they have to be tied to a power socket, so the Zipp is hitting above its weight. The price (just below £200) is definitely worth it. The Zipp is so versatile - a full range of inputs and a VERY EASY control interface (the touch controls on the top of the cylander are easy to use).A genuine gem - so glad I took all those years before deciding on the Libratone Zipp. Whilst you would probably need a couple of them to have enough volume for a party in the garden, one is sufficient for an outdoors concert :-)Highly recommended.

Libratone Zipp Mini: Solution to WiFi Connection Problem
Good product (stylish & decent sound quality) but, as other reviewers have mentioned, although Bluetooth setup is easy it is more difficult setting up the Wi-Fi connection.. But, in my case, the solution was easy once I had worked out what was going wrong.I tried using the Libratone App to set up the Wi-Fi connection but as soon as the set up was complete the Zipp Mini lost the connection and "forgot" the settings. I then tried setting up the connection using my computer - see Libratone web support called "Zipp/Zipp Mini - Wi-Fi setup (Windows PC/Phone, BlackBerry)" on how to do this - but again the connection failed. The solution was simple - your Wi-Fi network SSID (the name your network is called) must ONLY have letters & numbers with NO "special" characters. I have a BT router and the SSID was "BTHub6-AB12" and the Libratone setup software was not recognising the "-" (dash). I therefore changed the SSID (using BT Smart Hub Manager) so the dash was removed - now called "BTHub6AB12".Once I made this change the Wi-Fi setup worked perfectly (I used my computer not the App) and was able to connect all my devices, To be fair this "problem" is mentioned in Libratone Web support but it took some time to find the solution.
