Top quality varnish
Excellent product. Went on smoothly and easily, and produced a first-rate finish. It did take rather longer to dry than the tin said ( 12 hours to touch dry rather than 6, and 18 hours to recoat) despite the varnishing being done inside in warm, dry conditions. So I'd guess if you're using it in less ideal conditions it might well take double or even triple the recommended time to dry. But when it does, it's beautiful. It's spirit-based, so it does have fairly strong-smelling fumes, but the end result is indisputably vastly superior in terms of finish and durability compared to the dismal water-based products, so well worth the minor inconvenience.

Exactly the product we needed just enough for the teak bench
Exactly the product we needed and just enough for the teak garden bench although I can see why reviewers felt they required another tin. It was delivered expeditiously, indeed 2 days before due date. The varnish seems to be a quality product and the first coat easy to apply with a very good finish. I will be applying another one or two coats especially on top surfaces. I am hoping for at least 2 and possibly 3 years longevity especially since the garden bench is dry stored over winter months.

I had a badly water stained garden bench. After completely stripping it back to bare wood I stained it then gave it 3 coats of Blackfriar's yacht varnish, lightly sanding beteen coats. I gave the upper half a further coat, The varnish was easy to use, went on smoothly and dried without brush marks. I can't yet comment on 'weatherproof' but I've used Blackfriar's products before so I have every confidence.

Great Varnish
Great varnish good price and delivery, use it on my walking sticks to give protection to the Hazel and Blackthorn shanks.

Delighted with this varnish nice and clear and not too ...
Delighted with this varnish nice and clear and not too shiny (much better than 1930's varnish which had to be removed completely) and you have the added bonus that it's SUPER.
