Does the whole unit go under water? No spray bar to make a noise? All the aeration underwater bubbles? My filter at the moment very noisy!

its very quiet, just a small hum if you get near it. It has 3 settings, one makes bubbles, the other ones are silent, you dont have to have the bubbles if the unit is under water, mine is just above the surface, i dont like to trail the wire in the water but some people do and the unit can sit in the bottom of the tank, it is large but a few plants will cover it, hope this helps

Hi does the filer come ready to use or do I have to buy the filters and foam seperately?

Hi Leigh.It comes with the filters and biomax filter media :-) I get my refills from Amazon seller The Aquahut for £11.59 for a 2 pack foam pad, 2 pack cartridge pack and 170g box of biomax. Good value and very reliable seller. Have used them ever since I purchased my Fluval U2. Happy to help :-)

I have lost the grey stopper that regulate the slow from the top filter. Is it possible to purchase these separately please?

You can use a blob of bluetac and vary the air flow like that.

Will this filter work if I use it horizontally on its side, rather than vertically? I want to use it in my turtle tank which has a low water level

I can’t see it being a problem. How deep is your water though? This is enough filtration for a 110l tank so if you’ve only got a bit of water in the bottom a sponge filter may be a better option?
