Lovely illustrations
I purchased this colouring book as a Christmas present, I think the recipient will be very happy. The detail in the illustration is beautiful, the book is quite a good size and shape (square) It has a plastic type cover and the pages are a high quality paper. Only the right hand side pages have the pictures for colouring on, the left side explains which Roald Dahl book it is from. I have took some photographs for you to see before you buy. If you are buying for a child i would recommend getting a pack of fine tip pencils as some of the details are quite small.

At the back of each page is the description explaining which Roald Dahl book it was taken from
I bought this book to take with me to an upcoming workshop with young children. I know most of them that will be attending love Roald Dahl books so this is sure to be a winner.I have coloured in one of the pages so far and found the paper it is printed on to be good quality. The pages are not pure white but slightly off white in colour when held against a regular white piece of photocopy paper. The printing is excellent and all the printing is in black. The pages are not perforated so you would need to be careful removing a page from the book in case you tear the picture. The pages are not framed but the printing is over the whole page and right up to the edge. The pages to colour are all printed on the right hand side of the book and on the left is a small description of the picture before. An example is of the page of jars, "The BFG There are jars everywhere. They were piled up in the corners. They filled every nook and cranny of the cave." There is a small version of the page in a small square. Some of the pages you can expect to find in this book are a carousel, flowers, foxes, tortoises, feathers, feast of food, giraffe. Some of the reference to the pictures come from books such as Matilda, James and the giant peach, The magic finger, The witches, Little red riding hood and Danny the Champion of the world (as well as many others too). You don't have to be a Roald Dahl fan to enjoy the book but it would probably explain the pictures a little more clearly. I like the book but there are quite a few pages with small details that will not appeal to everyone.

Fantastic book.
I love the adult colouring books and once I seen this pop up in my recommendations, I knew I had too buy it. This book was great, the pictures are so nice and once they are coloured in they look even better! Highly recommend this if you like Roald Dahl's books and you enjoy colouring in.

Usually I don't preorder colouring books because I tend to like seeing the illustrations before making a purchase to make sure that I will enjoy using the book, but as I am a HUGE Roald Dahl fan, I figured that if I was going to preorder something without a preview, this would be the perfect book for it! When the post came today, I was thrilled...but when I opened the book to look through the pictures, I was very disappointed. What I expected is vastly different than the actual contents.I wasn't expecting Quentin Blake illustrations to colour, but I *was* expecting a book chock-full of illustrations depicting scenes from some of Roald Dahl's most iconic works. Though there are a few pictures that do fit the bill, there are far more drawings that seem to be very generic, such as repeating patterns and wallpaper-style illustrations that look similar to those I have seen in other adult colouring books. They are very well done and the line drawings are incredibly detailed and high quality, but they just don't feel like illustrations that would be unique to a colouring book that is supposed to be Roald Dahl themed. The paper quality seems fairly decent, though a bit thinner than some of the books I own. I can't offer any more insight on this aspect of the book since I've not coloured in it (at the moment, I am still unsure if I am going to keep it or not), but since the illustrations are only on one side of each page with only a description on the back, it seems you'd be safe to use any medium including markers as long as you used a piece of paper between pages just in case of bleeding!Since the book *does* have quality illustrations and seems to have good quality paper, I am going to rate it three stars. However, I personally cannot rate it higher because overall, the content seems a bit generic and lacking in relation to the theme.
