The + goes in first. The alternative view would be that with a choice of 2 ways try each and settle for the one that works - this is meant to be helpful as it would save a lot of time.

Would I be allowed to take it on an aircraft

I take mine on the aircraft sometimes in hand luggage, especially on long journeys. I have not used it on he plane but in transit airports I have. If you are going to places where English is not spoken much I would suggest you put it in your checked-in luggage as it is a little difficult to explain exactly what it is!

How long is it expected to last
