4 guitar tones, 1 sounds great!
After watching a few videos on this item, I sorta knew what I was buying before it arrived. I play AM400 through a Tele & on the Large box setting, it sounds amazing. My amp has a 7/15 watt switch. When I flip it to the 15 watts the tone is even better but.... there is this annoying fizzy sound when you strike a note or chord. With the right adjustments, you can make that sound less prevalent. The other 3 selections are sequentially less impressive but when you play a real acoustic guitar, how many different sounds can you get out of that? Only one right?03/12/11Ok,Works great but another caviot, do not use a compressor(Behringer DC9) when engaging this unit. It has the tendency to create a high pitched squeal as the acoustic guitar tone drops by 75%. God awful sound. Kinda like an electronic version of scratching you nail across a chalkboard. My cat ran for the hills!

Not true acoustic sound, but a nice tone option!!
I'm using a Strat with this and have no humbucker guitar to compare the difference, but my guess is that it would be a more accurate acoustic sound with humbuckers. For 40 yrs I've played in bands as mostly a keyboard player who could also play a decent 'second' guitar on a few songs, so I do know a bit about guitar tone and I know this won't come close to fooling another musician. BUT... I really like using it for a type of tone that I've just never gotten before! And there's a lot of variation in the tones you can get (within it's intended purpose). I guess I could eventually come close with other gear but why bother when a $50 box does it great. Right now I'm working in a duo with another guitarist/singer. When we started, we were both playing electric-acoustics, but now I play my Strat with this little box, straight into the mixer. It has enough of an acoustic 'flavor' that it fits well with his true acoustic but it really sets the 2 guitars apart so we don't sometimes sound like just one BIG acoustic. Straight into the PA mixer, it sounds polished when used with a tiny bit of the reverb feature but any more than a tiny bit and you start to notice the far-less-than-stellar sound of it! I would never use the built-in reverb for recording but it's decently better than nothing when used live.SO, it's not what I was LOOKING for when I bought it, but I'm really happy with what I FOUND!!

AM400
This pedal arrived at my place - Looked good - however when I pluged it in - there was no difference in sound - I cannot rate this pedal yet as I was never able to use it - as it did not work...

very trebly sound,
If you want acoustic sound, get an acoustic or line 6 guitar! if you have the right pickups and you use a PA or acoustic amp, this will sound ok. But it has a lot of noise in it. its not that great on single coil pickups, its ok on some humbuckers. I sent it back

This accoustic similulator really works!
I previously purchased the Boss accoustic simulator but returned it. It did an ok job, but the Behringer accoustic simulator really works. I can not believe I only paid $50 bucks for a pedal that does such a good job. I am using an Epiphone ES339 with prohumbuckers playing thru a Marshall Haze 40 watts. I also use a 1978 Les Paul Deluxe with the minihumbuckers. Now I strongly recommend using single coil pickups. My ES339 can switch to single coil. I also use the bridge pickup. Also you do need to play around with the pedal settings to get your preferred sound. Actually a couple of the guitar styles I did not care for, but once I got the pedal set correctly I was amazed! And the reverb is cool too. It does have a slight hiss when you strum "hardly noticable" but I also have a noise gate to take care of that. I have no problem playing on gigs with this pedal. As far as I know there are only 2 companies that make an accoustic similutor and Behringer is the winner. Most of my pedals are more expensive such as my Fulltone ODC. I definitly recommend this pedal.

Have had to return 2 of these now.
The first one came and would work for about 30 seconds, then shut off. We returned it, asked for a replacement. Opened the new one up for Christmas, wouldn't work at all, even had a black coated wire sticking out from the battery connector. So we are now returning this one as well, but for a refund this time. We are going with a more durable option. Amazon has been great through all of this! We are happy Amazon customers.

the jury's still out........update....this performs well though a PA! For the price the pedal is a steal!
I have not played it through a PA or an acoustic guitar amp yet. I've played it using my Yamaha dg-80a and it sounds"ok" but through a PA would be a real test.............update to my original review! I finally had the chance to run this pedal though a PA and was pleasantly surprised! The guitar amp colored the tone but the PA made the tone sound more natural. It did not sound exactly like an acoustic guitar but I didn't expect it too. It did give a very reasonably close acoustic tone and that's all I really wanted. Now I have confidence that I can go on stage with only one guitar and get the sounds I need !

Behringer AM400
The pedal is good for the price. Could be more versatile but otherwise good. Also the actual stomp trigger is a but sticky an can lead to a slight delay with the pedal kicking in.

Super
Better than my BOSS AC3 (that takes alot of setting up to avoid all the hiss etc) but this is half the price and dead easy to use with different PA's Amps etc (with the BOSS I only feel comfortable with my own gear). So this is now the pedal I take to open stage nights etc...

a bit noisy...
Good value unit. Had to send the first one back due to unwanted buzzing noise. Amazon exchanged with no quibble which was very pleasing. The jury is still out as this unit works well with my practice home set up but not so well with my live set up. I might have to juggle a few things about and experiment. Although not as noisy as the first unit, this unit still appears to attract a hum and/ or buzz in certain situations. when working some of the the sounds are quite usable but some settings are a little too shrill. Its a case of experimenting and finding a sound that suits you and what you want to achieve as there are some settings that are in my opinion unusable. For the price it is good but it is not great.
