The BEST mobile 4G WiFi router I have ever used.
The BEST mobile 4G WiFi router I have ever used.I have owned a cheaper and much more basic Huawei 4G ‘Mifi’ router for a while and it has been fantastic for when I lost coverage on my phone. I picked this up as I work in IT and since it has an Ethernet port, will be a great help if I need to give a server some quick internet access without messing around.Battery life is simply amazing, no doubt that you’ll see 24 hours use out of this. The built in screen provides a good at a glance signal status, data usage etc... but the web interface is fantastic, as is the app. All the settings and customisation options you could need!I have used it with a Vodafone, Three, O2 and EE SIM, no problems at all, adding APN’s in is easy as well if it doesn’t pick the right one up.Wireless throughput is more than adequate to take full advantage of the 4G connection. Ethernet is 100Mb but it’s a portable 4G router, it’s perfectly fine for connecting a wired device. To beat this feature wise, you will need to look at Proroute or Teltonika but they are more ‘industrial’ products designed for permanent install and are not battery powered.Awesome product!

Good quality Mi-Fi - Good value for money
Compact size and good value for money. Works well and very good battery life. If you don't need all the bells and whistles of more expensive Mi-Fi devices with bigger screens, this is a good buy. Settings can be adjusted using free phone app from Huawei. The Huawei Mi-Fi device uses micro-SIM size SIM card. Found that it's VERY helpful to also carry a phone that takes same size of SIM card as activation of a data-only SIM card to use in the Mi-Fi device often requires a phone to go through activation process via SIM provider's website. I use an old Samsung Galaxy S5 mini and keep it with Huawei Mi-Fi device in a small carry-case. The Mi-Fi device obviously doesn't have a web browser, hence the need for a phone to do the activation bit. Huawei device is well built and can connect to an ethernet router via a Cat 6 cable (not supplied with Mi-Fi) too if required. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent mobile router I couldn't be happier!!
I brought one of these to help fill in while broadband was being set up after a house move. This device is excellent, signal and range, build quality and interface.I have a 4G enabled iPad, this device outstrips the in pad modem and you get the benefits of connecting additional devices too. It's a great bit of kit, even at what seems to be a high price. Also, the battery is great and lasts a couple of days. If you use it to charge another device less, but still very good.

WiFi hotspot great device
Used for work to have one source that multiple devices can connect to.Works very well so far, with no loss of connection (used in Africa and Asia mainly) via a sim card. Can get impressive speeds but is dependent on the quantity of the SIM card plan etc.Signal / range is fine, connected devices working in other rooms, used a WiFi hotspot in office etc.Bonus of battery means can take on the road and still have a connection, and can charge phone etc with the supplied cable.Would recommend great device

Great gadget
Hello. Part review / query !I bought the Huawei E5885 CAT6/ 4G+ Portable just over a year ago. For some of that time, it has sat in it's box, but recently I have been using it in my car, to provide a hotspot, with a Three SIM, which gives me 200mb free a month. This has always worked flawlessly. (speeds unknown)Recently, in an effort to speed up my slow (9mbps) home broadband, I ordered from Three, their new £20 Unlimited SIM, to use as a hotspot. The SIM arrived ( my mobile is with Three, and 4g signal is very good where I live, achieving 40-60mbps sometimes) but when put into the Huawei E5885, my speeds were never any higher than 10mbps. I connected an ethernet cable to E5885, plugged into laptop, and speeds went up to 50mbps.Same SIM in my phone, speeds were back up to 55mbps. Not sure if there is something I have done wrong or is there something in the settings. Apart from the disappointment of not improving my home bb speed, this unit is easy to set up and use ! Any advice/suggestions welcome

Patience needed for tech use, fantastic value home and travel use, fast enough, great reception
I bought this as a long term good value home and travelling wifi unit rather than signing up with an expensive provider. The longer this little gadget lasts, the better! If 2 years at least, it will mean I have bought my own wifi for £7.50 a month and if 3 years, only a fiver a month. You do need to buy a SIM card to go in it with a data pack/bundle/goodybag, whatever you call them! I find giffgaff great for this because they let you know what amount of data will work best for you based on your use. Obviously you have to guess your first goodybag. This wifi is not locked. Well, certainly not to the O2 network. It is not great with technical help to enable you to use it with varying devices. If you do get the hang of it, via the Huawei app that you can load, online videos and brain power patience, help from your SIM provider etc, then its a fantastic little gadget! I found the greatest difficulty actually turned out to be my own changeable settings on my giffgaff account. You need to find a way that enables the device you want to connect to the Huawei mifi and giffgaff data provider are all aligned. Once you find your way how to use it, its fast enough, the battery lasts ages and can double up as spare battery charger *and* the reception range is impressive too. I put mine on the middle floor and it is happily connected to from the ground floor and the attic. Be kind to it and maybe it will last ages and provide you with the best value wifi youll find. And you can take it to the seaside and across hills and dales!!!
