modelling has come a long way
This tiny box of tricks is a superb tool for the price. It is lightweight and I wouldnt trust it to be hugely gig friendly, but if you are a little gentle with it it should last. The sounds as it arrives are good starting points, but the fun really starts when you make your own.Amp models are great, modulation effects are very usable, and within a few minutes you can have some super bespoke patches stored.Ignore many of the youtube videos with truly terrible bedroom players - look a the video by Harry Maes to see what this really can sound like with a good player.Noisy? - nope - one of the best noise gates I have seen on this type of pedalDont overdo the level of gain, keep the effects subtle and you can get a superb sound. The cab emulator mode allows it to be run through a PA directly, and it sounds much much better than it has any right to.Dont have the room to carry your amp to a gig?No problem - bring this with a stereo jack to x 2 xlr cable and run in stereo though the PA.Fo 30 quid?bargain*******edit - having spent some quality time with this setting up some presets for my son who is playing some gigs in England soon and cant carry his rig with him, I`m impressed. We have some great JCM like classic rock patches, some great leads, some heavier sounding more overdriven patches. All levels equalized and it sounds like the dogs through a PA.Of note...before you run through a PA press the drum button whilst plugging in a lead on the input side. It switches the emulated output on which really does make it sound indistinguishable from a mic-ed up cab.Having played with stuff like this for years from line 6 and Roland, this kicks those into the weeds.Doesnt sound digital at all...so long as you take your time.No idea where the "noisy" reviews come from, this unit is quiet - just engage the noise gate in the settings

Amazing Sound Control and Value for Money!
I recently purchased the Digitech RP55, and I must say, I'm thoroughly impressed with this compact multi-effects processor. This little box packs a big punch when it comes to versatility and sound quality. Whether you're a seasoned guitarist or just starting out, the RP55 is an incredible addition to your gear collection. The first thing that struck me was the build quality. It's compact, sturdy, and perfect for gigging or home use. The interface is incredibly user-friendly, making it easy to dive right into tweaking your tones. With 11 amp models and 20 studio-quality effects, the RP55 offers a wide array of options to shape your sound, from clean and crisp to heavy and distorted. What really stands out is the sound quality. The amp modeling is impressive, and the effects are top-notch. I was particularly impressed with the quality of the reverb and delay effects – they add depth and dimension to my playing. The built-in drum machine and tuner are great additions, making practice sessions more productive. One of the biggest selling points for me was the value for money. For the price, the RP55 offers features and sound quality that are usually found in more expensive units. It's a cost-effective way to experiment with various tones and effects without breaking the bank.Whether you're a beginner looking to explore your sound or a seasoned musician in need of a portable and reliable multi-effects processor, the Digitech RP55 is an excellent choice. Its sound quality, ease of use, and affordability make it a fantastic addition to any guitarist's arsenal. I highly recommend the RP55 to anyone seeking a versatile and budget-friendly solution for their effects needs. You won't be disappointed!

Good amp modeling and good value at this price
I paid £32 for it from here and for this price you cant complain much. The amp modeling sounds good and it does a good job at attempting to sound like a blackface, VOX and others. Theres loads of effects on it to play with and the unit is fairly basic to use, which I think is a good thing. Compared it next to my zoom g3x and the zoom has a lot more sound and it does sound better overall but there is so much on it for me its over the top at times and it does cost quite a bit more than this too. This digitech pedal is also extremely compact which is a bonus about the size of two'ish stomp boxes so its really neat.Drum machine is limited and not that much variation in sound but its not bad, the tempo and level can be adjusted. One thing I didn't like was the chorus effect I was going to buy a dedicated chorus pedal, till I saw this and thought it was a bonus to have every thing else in a compact pedal but the chorus effect to me was rubbish, real cheap fake sounding ( I know its digital anyway but I just thought it sounded real bad.)I didn't try all its features but there are some good default preset sounds on there and it's a great tool if your on a budget as most of it sounds nice, especially the amp sims.I had no noise issues with my unit it was nice and clean.

Great multi-effects processor for beginners
This is a great little effects pedal which gives you close to the real effects of the many pedals that are on the market. It takes a little tweaking and patients to obtain your own desired effects even though it has presets. The only down side is that it doesn't come with a power adapter and I/O cable but can run on batteries perfectly fine. Overall, for the price, you can't go wrong and the sound quality is better than I anticipated.

i'm sure it's a great product, but we never got it
Ordered this for my dad as a Christmas gift and was surprised when he told me he didn't know how to use it. Turns out what he received was something completely different (not a pedal at all, some accessory to another bit of kit). The seller seemed completely uninterested in getting him what i ordered so he returned it before eventually getting the RP55 from JBHiFi. He loves it though.
