Works a treat, very impressed.
I bought this to take some measurements to try some room correction software. My latest smart phone has USB C, but I have an old phone that has a audio analogue connection so I thought I would save some money, in case I wasn't impressed with the improvement. Downloading the software for the Dayton calibration was straight forward from their website, as was adding it to the room correction software. When setting up it is important to stabilise the phone at ear level to get the best results. I was very impressed, as it highlighted the dip in the frequency curve where I expected it. I decided not to implement the changes the room correction programme recommended, as I could if I wanted to, adjust just as well using digital EQ, the changes were not so big. All in all a good experience, be aware it may not work with all phones or tablets, as I found with an old LG flagship phone. Highly recommended, well made, well packaged and quality product with great capabilities.

Cheap-ish testing microphone that may get good to excellent results.
I recently purchased a new car amplifier and headunit, but even after some tinkering about, found the sound too harsh and also sounding dull somewhat. Research and guides lead me this, to enable half decent or good equalisation of my car audio install. It is by far the best value in the budget sector of microphones that are calibrated. For the calibration you download a test report file from Dayton audio, each unique the the units, and use the file in analysing softwares. For that I used an android app that supported the file and got myself a good budget setup. To my ears, after calibration, there was a noticeable difference, less harsh and better sound stage. I thought maybe a placebo, but non of the Alpine head units presets sounded as good or my own initial tweak done by ear alone. Having listened to music over the last several weeks, all sounds rather good. As the app used is very comprehensive but requires deeper learning, I could possibly fine tune the sound further thus truly getting the best of the microphone. For a non-pro but likes music and best I can afford, this is a great option in my opinion without breaking the bank. With other supported software, you could use this microphone to calibrate many audio setups in the home or perhaps on location. Its quite versatile and fabulous value.

Good little cheap reference mic
Great little measurement mic that can be used with my iPad and the AudioTools app. Doesn’t replace a professional system, but when working on a budget it is better than just relying on your ears

Perfect for mobile/amateur audio measurement
I used this microphone as a RTA to adjust the EQ in my car after audio modifications. It's functionality, compatibility and clarity are it's high points. You can even use the microphone for high quality recordings or video production on the go. For the money and form factor, it's the only measurement microphone on the market. Bear in mind that you need to upload a calibration file to your phone to get a pure flat response from this mic. This is done with an app recommended by the Dayton website, and it's a paid app. In the UK, be prepared to spend £8 more on said recommended app. Still worth it.

Good build quality.
Hard to review as it arrived so damaged I had to return it. Build quality looked good though.

Very useful device for Audio Buffs
This will prove invaluable for those who would like to set up Audio playback equipment using an RTA. The Mic has a unique calibration file that can be downloaded from the Dayton Audio website, and then loaded into your device for accurate audio signal measurement. You obtain it by entering the serial number of your actual Mic. Follow the instructions on the website to load it. It is a bit fiddly to do, but the instruction are clear and work well. This uses a 3.5mm TRRS Jack, so you will need a way of connecting tat into your device. My iPad accepted this easily, but my android phone required a USB-C to 3.5mm convertor cable. Using Mobile Tools by AudioControl is the best way to use this. Recommended product.

Amazing Quality for Such a Resonable Price
Not only is it great to get a calibrated measurement microphone for such a low price, but add in the fact that you can easily access the calibration curve for your particular microphone by inputting the serial number into a website listed in the manual, and you now have yourself an amazing piece of professional quality audio testing equipment that is unbeatable for the price. Upon receiving the package containing my microphone and some other items from Parts Express, I was immediately able to recognize that the microphone did not come in a cheap bag or box type package, but rather came in a nice brushed metal tin with a firm foam lining that fit the microphone very snugly. This case is suitable for long term storage of the microphone, and was a very pleasant surprise. It is also a great size for carrying just your phone and the microphone around in a pocket or two in order to do audio testing on the go. The microphone not only has a great rubbery feeling matte finish, but it also has a very high quality enclosure with no noticeable ridges or gaps such as many cheaper molded plastic items have. This rigidness is likely a large factor in the amazing quality of the microphone. When testing, even when holding the phone in my hand with the microphone hanging from the jack, facing an audio source (my new low cost studio monitor speakers that I am evaluating as well), I noticed no handling noise, and no static or crackles as a loose connection would indicate. The jack on the mic is also of good quality and has nice alignment so it does not stick out from the phone (or computer) at an odd angle. Using several free apps, I was able to utilize my iPhone and this microphone as a small audio testing station of sorts. With an audio sine wave sweep generator, and a frequency response app, I was able to look at how flat my speakers were with the position that they were in, and I was also able to detect how directional they are at high frequencies. I needed this microphone for an engineering project I am working on (studio monitor speaker isolation stands), and this saved me probably over a hundred dollars compared to buying dedicated audio testing equipment. Another wonderful feature of this microphone is that it offers a headphone through jack so that I can still play music or audio test signals on my phone while using the microphone with an audio analyzing app. I can also monitor the audio coming in when using certain apps. The mic can handle very high SPL without distorting, and overall I think that it is a great item worth purchasing for any audio enthusiast. If I were to lose the microphone or break it, I would buy another in a heartbeat.
