Blackspur BB-IK100 Electronic Insect Killer

I bought this item a few months ago and it's still working, although the light has always been *incredibly* dim and a little flickery. To give you an idea of the brightness, in a well lit room you will need to look carefully to see if it is on or not.For use in a room with any other light source (especially a window) this is woefully inadequate. Not only could I barely see the light, but flies were completely disinterested.However, I actually bought this to use in my attic, where there are no other sources of light. Every month or so I check to see what the body count is like and there are a couple of flies in the catchment tray (my attic is rich with potential victims). It's not doing a sterling job, but it works to some (very limited) extent.If you're looking for something very cheap to kill the occasional fly that has crept into a confined pitch black space then this might suit your purposes. For anything else it is woefully inadequate - and don't even consider it for use in a room with a light or windows.EDIT - I've now had the product for approaching 6 months and the bulb is still going. I won't say going strong, as the light has never been any more than a dim flicker. The number of flies that this has caught during this time is somewhere between zero and ten - it is difficult to say how many because of the environment in which I've used it. A maximum of 10 flies in nearly 6 months makes this a complete waste of money and I now would recommend it even for attic use. Either do without, or spend £30 and buy something that will do the job properly.

This is just a dull light. The flys didnt get buzzed at all total waste of money. If my son hadn't ripped the box it would 100% be on its way back to the seller. Im angry that this is so bad. 😤

The item arrived promptly within 2-working days.For whatever reason, I can't seem to get rid of the flies inside our home. Pulling up floorboards to look for possible dead vermin is cost prohibitive, so I bought this instead. It certainly helped lure and kill those pesky flies.It is quite small though and I wish it was brighter. I helped shoo the flies away in the morning when they are attracted to our windows and doors. In the evening and overnight, this insect killer is left on and in the morning I'd find several stuck or dead on its tray.

Looks ok, delivery very good, not really seen any flys killed... Still a few about,, didn't seem to work with fruit flys, real plague this year..

I got this a while ago, and although we left it on all the time as we thought switching it on and off would make it last less time, it only lasted about 18months, but it did the job and was not very dear so I guess you get what you pay for, but the similar one we had before lasted longer.

Have had a larger version for some years and has worked effectively. Improved since fitting new UVA tube.This item has kept room free of flies while in use. Most effective against small fruit flies, mushroom flies or compost gnats from house plants.Will not be effective against biting insects or mosquito's as these atracted to Carbon Dioxide in breath for blood meal from person or animal, not UV light.
