THESE ARE ALSO AN EXERCISING TOOL IN THEIR OWN RIGHT
I Know these poles are not 'top-of-the-range' but those particular ones are always excessively overpriced to convey some sort of elitist exclusivity and superiority aren't they. These are O.K and I particularly like the quick release clamps for adjusting the poles lengths as, once adjusted properly to maintain a strong assured grip, they are excellent, especially if your hands are so cold that fiddliness is beyond their capabilities. I wish they had a spare pair of the rubber caps for use on hard terrains though. Standard generically fitting replacements can be obtained easily enough however through Amazon outlets. I find, being 6' 2'', that length adjustments of the three telescopic sections on each pole are best accomplished so that the bottom ( thinnest section ) is extended the shortest length of the three so as to allow the thicker sections to take up load bearing duties more sturdily if and when required. I can confirm that this can be done with lots of extra telescopic potential to spare for anyone quite a bit taller than myself too. All in all I am pleased with this purchase for my personal recreational choices of covering hard terrains, riverbank routes, and for puddle hopping down gloopy, rutted, farm tracks. Now being in my mid 60's my leg joints aren't up to what they could once tolerate anymore on my excursions by foot and my feet can now burn up from the results of prolonged weight bearing on hikes. With these poles those problems are lessened considerably whilst the different distribution of body articulation becomes second nature ( like riding a bike ) once you have gotten used to the poles. Having a more worn down older skeleton the poles actually help me maintain a better posture via my spine too. Coincidentally, the arm exercise provided by the poles also contributes to a healthier blood circulatory system, making for a healthier cardiovascular system whatever your age. What's there not to like. I'm glad that I bought these particular trekking poles anyway.Eamonn

Light poles, good customer service.
UPDATE 2:I was contacted by customer services, who were very helpful, and told me that they have addressed the problem that I have experienced with the poles. They sent a replacement pair, and the new ones are slightly larger diameter and much stiffer. I haven't been able to test them out yet, but it looks like they should fully resolve the issue.UPDATE:On a walk in the Lake District, one of the poles snapped when I slipped slightly on a rock, and the broken end gave me a fairly bad cut across my lower back as I fell. I only weigh about 11.5 stone, so I shouldn't be pushing the limits of what they can take. The problem is that the diameter of the pole is too small, so they aren't stiff enough. This makes them prone to bending when more load is put on them (e.g. when you use it to try to stop you from falling over), which means that they, a) aren't very effective at stopping you from falling, since they just give out under you, and b) are very likely to snap, because you will continue to fall and the pole will just bend further until it snaps.A couple of millimetres more on the outside diameter of the pole would make all the difference, with minimal effect on the weight, but as it is, I think these are fundamentally flawed unfortunately.Original review:Very pleased with these. I bought two sets for a trip to Yosemite, and since I would be carrying my girlfriend's as well, they needed to be light. These are just as light weight as promised, and it doesn't feel like they have compromised in any other areas to achieve this. The grips are good, the clamps are solid (make sure you adjust them before use), and the poles performed faultlessly. The only issue I had was with the mud baskets falling off - I think we have lost all four now! I'd advise using a bit of thread-lock when fitting these.

GOOD FOR THE PRICE
The poles arrived earlier than the estimated date which meant I could use them for a week in the Lake District. The poles look good in red and black and are lightweight. The click locks work very well. The poles do tend to vibrate a bit going over hard ground and make an annoying twang at times. I was very annoyed that I lost both mud baskets in the same day....they just pulled off the pole in very soft ground despite the fact that I had ensured they were fully screwed on.June 20th. Centre section of one pole snapped while crossing a shallow stream, not impressed by the strength of the pole.

The poles are sturdy and strong and given the price point of them
I purchased these about 6 months ago in order to assist my footing whilst training for and competing in the the Lakes 10 peak challenge. The poles are sturdy and strong and given the price point of them, very light. The adjustment clips work really well and are easy to use and re-adjust on the walk. I did however lose the mus baskets fairly quickly and replaced those with an alternative set which is unlikely yo be a fault of the product, but rather the operator and my inability to put them on tightly enough!

Strong and sturdy
Arrived quickly; as walking poles they're strong and sturdy. I am six feet and weight just over fourteen stone. Adjust quickly and hold their position well. Had a practice in the garden usign them as tent pole for my tarp, worked really well and held position with guy ropes lashed to them. I'd recommend as taking them to Dartmoor for a bit of wild camping and trust them to last for the walk and the shelter building.

Money well spent
These are great. So much better than another cheap pair I bought a while ago. I would call these expensive or cheap, all I can say is I think they are brilliant. In fact a friend saw them & tried them & got a pair for themselves. They are short enough to fit into my back pack (if not required) and they are super light. Well worth getting a pair.

Simply put these poles are the Dogs Nuts. I have just completed the South West Coast Path, 630 miles in a oner and these gave me great support for the knees and 100% confidence in aiding guidance over multi types of terrain. They never slipped or let me down once, light weight and strong, ideal for a self contained trekker like me, get them you won't regret it.
