A handy, lightweight and reliable cutter.
This product was insanely helpful to me as an Art GCSE student. I had to cut down so many images for my mounting and whatnot. It's always reliable and always makes a clean, precise cut.Sometimes lining the edge up for a perfect cut is a tad difficult as the side doesn't provide a very deep edge but it is still plenty usable and a great product.I personally haven't tried loading it with a large number of sheets and seeing how well it'd cut through that but it seems very sturdy and doesn't have a problem when sliding through thicker sheets of watercolour paper or mixed media paper. At this point, I never use the school paper trimmers just because this one is so much nicer. It's also pretty light so I can easily take it wherever in the house I'm doing my mounting work. The grid on the bottom does sometimes help but that depends on what you'd be using it for.It may be one of the slightly more pricey cutters on Amazon but it's well worth that little bit extra. Also I'm fairly sure that Avery offer replacement blades and what have you if you contact them directly. In terms of taking care of them so they don't damage and break, just try not to slam the cutter when using. Sometimes it can be tempting if there's a bit of a rush, but I know (from the wonky broken ones at school) that this is one of the most common causes of damage.

Brilliant!
Great guillotine! Really smooth, quick blade action. Very light and compact size. Fantastic value for money.

Does the job.
So far , after three weeks use the cutter does as expected. However it is lightweight, so not sure how sturdy it is for long term use.

Useful and reasonably priced paper trimmer
About to retire as a teacher and realised that I wouldn't have access to a paper trimmer. Panic! I didn't want to spend too much but I wanted a trimmer that was sturdy enough for relatively light duties, easy to store and easy to use. This product is perfect. I highly recommend. I use it mostly to trim my art work.

The guide for cutting is approx 3mm short - so you will need a pair of scissors to finish off the job you brought this for
The whole idea of having a guillotine is to get precise edges, especially when you mark up borders or reduce A4 prints to give that 'professional printer' finish for printed edged. The cutting mechanism does it's job - BUT the failing is with the guide, it's about 3mm behind the cutting edge so you have to have some guesswork for every cut you make if you have a precise size to cut to. This gives rise to over cutting or undercutting so you have to finish the job with a pair of scissors - BOO HISS!Will be contacting the manufacturer for a fit for purpose replacement or a refund -

Disappointed
I bought the same product previously and it worked perfectly for 6 months or so but then had yo be replaced. The new one does not always slice perfectly which is annoying as I use it for greeting cards

I love it
I use it every day and it never lets me down. An excellent accessory which I wouldn't be without.

Does the job - well!
I have a big A3 Rotary Paper Trimmer which is really good for it's job, but the length of the bar means that the blade often jumps out of alignment and small pieces of paper jump out and get cuts in the wrong direction and tears instead of clean cuts. This Avery trimmer is a bit smaller and a bit more rigid. The smallest thing I've cut in it is a label for a framed photograph, 2cm deep. The clear plastic guard clamps even tiny bits of card well so the cut is clean and straight.I haven't tried piling up lots of sheets of paper - i mostly use it to trim single pages and photographs and get really straight lines and clean edges, and it does that really well. Usually, these lower cost trimmers aren't good at more than 5 sheets of paper but I don't need to go industrial so it is a good trimmer at a good price
