Very good dual band adapter
I upgraded my router to one that broadcasts on both 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz frequencies. But my old adapter could only receive 2.4 GHz. I bought this to upgrade my previous TP-LINK TL-WN722NC Adapter (see: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003158RHE?ref_=cm_aya_orig_subj) that I was very happy with. [You can see my review of that unit on it's Amazon.co.uk product page.]This unit looks identical to the above unit except it doesn't come with the handy USB dock/cradle that the TL-WN722NC did. This one comes with a USB extension cable, warranty/service booklets, a software CD and a promotional leaflet. It's very well packaged in a custom foam cut-out in a retail box.Regarding the installation: This was not quite as straightforward as the TL-WN722NC, but that was probably because I followed the "quick start" guide in the box. I installed the driver and TP-Link Utility that was on the little CD-ROM. That was a mistake. If you have a windows 7, 8 or 8.1 machine *do not* install the driver off the CD or the TP-Link Utility, and just do the following: -Plug the unit into a free USB 2.0 port (the one you intend to keep for it's use).Let windows look for the unit and install it.Go to Device Manager and select the TP-Link adapter, and right-click the entry and click "Update Driver". Once that's done you'll notice that I'll update the original driver from a Railink brand driver to a "MediaTek, Inc." driver. This is even more up-to-date then the drivers found on the TP-Link website! The latest version of the driver is 5.1.25.0. Once that's done restart the computer. You should now be able to detect devices on both the 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz bandwidths. That's pretty much it. The only difference in looks to the TL-WN722NC predecessor is that the green LED shines constantly, without pulsing like the TL-WN722NC's did. It'll flash when data is being processed but otherwise it's always on and steady.I was impressed with how little there was to do to get running once the drivers were installed. The green LED shines through the white plastic case and you're connected. There's no more to it - and the connection is strong & fast.I like it because it's portable and as fast as a wired connection! Pity they don't offer it with the handy USB cradle on this model so it can stand up, out the way of feet kicking the USB out of its port or anything. This is just the ticket to getting on the clearer 5 GHz frequency. I would recommend this product for anyone looking to add powerful wireless connectivity easily. You can be up & running on 5 GHz in 15 minutes.

Good speed and range
Works well on the other side of a brick wall to my desktop PC (windows 10). it's worth opening the software that comes with it and orientating the aerial to get the best signal. It can make the diference between 60% and 90% in my case. I also have a dongle that also works on the 5G A/C band but it does not have an external aerial and it cannot get anything like the speed of this adapter. I also tried it on my laptop (which has a built in wireless card but like most laptops works only on the 2G band) and it beats the hell out of the built in adapter for speed and range. It means I can connect the laptop on the 5G band if I'm near the modem which is a lot faster, or on the 2G band for better range at the other side of the house which is impossible with the built in wireless card. So far no negatives.

Cured my weak wi-fi signal upstairs.
Works well mostly. Slight problem but probably not the fault of this device as I've seen lots of similar complaints about wi-fi dongles in general not connecting when waking from sleep. Looks like a windows issue.

Three Stars
Installed easily - LED flashes, etc.But no noticeable improvement in quality or speed.

Broken in 7 months after purchase
Worked as written on the instruction leaflet. Installed the driver in the CD and WPS tool. At first I was still having the same connection problem (blindspot in the house, weak signal). I connected to WiFi2 on top of my WiFi list, I guess that was the connection provided by the adapter. Internet speed is good now, no pauses in YouTube.Broken 7 months after purchasing. Amazon provided irresponsible customer service for this product.

Terrible support for Linux
They claim to support Linux but I found it unusable on Ubuntu 16.04. First the driver is not included in the kernel tree or distros so it's not plug and play. They provide source code for a driver on kernels 2.6~3.16, but they don't maintain it for recent kernels that people actually use these days. The TP-LINK support site provides a link to a driver on github, and it builds (with many warnings) but it's not stable, and sometimes the whole system locks up - so had to uninstall it. This adapter is useless to me and just wasted my time and money.

Linux Compatible - Checked using Kali Linux
I use this Network Adaptor all the time, whether I'm running Linux or Windows 10. If you are looking for an adaptor that you can manually change to 'monitor' mode only, then this small high gain beauty is what you need. Okay, it's dual-band, you can manually switch channels to see whois using them and collect data. Many network adapters do not allow 'monitor' mode switching which limits to what you can possibly do.I would definitely recommend this product to anyone - especially Linux users!

Very easy to set up and use
We bought one of these last year for our old non wireless desktop and it worked perfectly from the outset. When my toddler knocked into it and broke the aerial we bought another one straight away and this time it was £10 cheaper! Bonus! Easy to set up and use. Quick to pick up reception.

Tut was es soll.
