What's the difference between the 9 and the 10?

i get 9 and the 6th string is a 46 , which i find ok , .set 9 is 9 11 16 26 36 and 46 , it looks like the other set is 10 to 46 which means, the top string is a bit thicker , and , it will give a better sound ,i find the number 9 (top string ) is too light and gives a "tinny "sound,so i actually change the 2 top strings , hence ,11 12 16 26 36 46 , its a matter of what is best for you ,you can always try both ok i hope this is helpful .

can i use theses' strings on a cigar box guitar

Yes these strings can be used for your cigar box guitar.

Why are these so cheap? What’s the catch?

IF YOUR TALKING ABOUT STRINGS, ,THEY ARE GOOD STRINGS AND I GET THEM FROM AMAZON BECAUSE, I DO NOT SEE THEM IN THE LOCAL MUSIC SHOPS.

Are the bottom three strings wound? wound strings sound dull on a banjitar - i'm looking for a pack of six plain strings for my banjitar.

They are wound mate .go on ebay and search plain guitar strings , ie unwound and you will find some good quality strings !
