Straightforward 6 MONTHS LATER, Frustrating
Bought to replace 27L 1000W Panasonic Combi which, after just 18 months, cut out with a strong smell of burning and ‘scorch’ marks round door latches. Decided on this Russell Hobbs as it is similar to one we had previously, with heater in the rear (as opposed to Panasonics above). The interior quality is superb and cleans well. Exterior metal had a small dent in it and sounds “tinny” Viewing through the door is inadequate if monitoring how brown a dish is. Easy set up to start cooking, once I remembered to select ‘confirm’ after every instruction. The +30 second button is a good feature. BUT who on earth decided 5 beeps should signal time’s up, when 2 would suffice. If I’m fast enough I can wizz the door open 2 seconds early to avoid this annoyance. 6 WEEKS after purchase. Convection side disappointing. Frozen pies eg Pukka are underdone on bottom pastry and not browned on top, even after extra 15 minutes. Ditto homemade mince pies, Yes I did some early to try out rather than have a disaster on the 24th. Manual gives no help on cooking in stages, unlike the Panasonic. 6 MONTHS LATER. I’m almost wishing this would die a death so I could justify buying a new micro/Combi. This manual is a joke so-much-so I downloaded the Panasonic manual which I had previously. Nothing cooks within the suggested temperature or times that I was used to or as advised in cook books/packets. Have gone back to using my Moffat built in grill and now steam veggies on gas hob. Energy bills will be up but at least I can see what’s cooking and haveconfidence in end results. I will just have to put up with a soggy bottom on my Pukka Pie!!!

Attractive and functional, with room for most things you'd think of microwaving
This was bought to replace a large Sharp microwave oven that died. The Sharp also had grill and convector features, but in the 10 years I had it, I didn't use those modes at all. If there had been any 30 litre or larger solo microwaves, I should have bought one.So this review of the Russell Hobbs is based solely on its microwave function. The exterior is attractive, with a mirrored front and a white case that isn't too obtrusive. The interior is shiny stainless steel, which should make it much less difficult to clean than the enamel interiors I'm used to.There's nothing on the front to indicate that it's a 900W oven, but the documentation confirms that it is. When used in accordance with heating instructions for packaged products, it seems to produce exactly the right results. That was something of a surprise to me, as they'd always been overheated when I used the old Sharp in the same way. It does mean that things like warming a cup of soup take longer, but it's still pretty fast. The interior will hold vessels up to 22cm high, and the turntable is over 31cm in diameter, so it meets my need to accommodate a family-size casserole -- or even a claret glass if I forget to get the bottle out in time to reach room temperature!I like the large button for 30 second increments; it means one rarely has to touch any of the more complex controls. The clock is easy to set (a big plus in areas with overhead power supply).

Not the most expensive, but, one of the best.
Genuine review, for a product actually purchased{plz excuse spielin mystaykes¡}Required to replace my convection microwave, my other had a broken door after 7yrs not cost effective to repair.I wanted one that you could cook a forerib of beef, with a minimum of 3 rib. Not that easy finding one with enough height. But this fitted the bill.So let's get the 'bad' points out of the way first. It is big. BIG. Remember when you measure it for that nice space in your kitchen, just fits right? Hmmm, maybe not. Remember to add 7.5cm on all sides of the unit, that's what the book advises. You ain't seeing much through that door, unless your eyeline is level with it, even then, hmmm, not great. Whilst the mirrored door looks fantastic in your kitchen, it doesn't half cause issues seeing in.It's going to take time to get used to those controls. But stick with it.Wish it had a metal plate at the bottom. Instead of a glass one, but you can get a metal one easily enough. Now the good.Looks, well it not only looks the part, it is very well constructed. That door is solid. Those buttons were thought about. They actually work. As does the jogger at the bottom. The Fan actually does its job, right up to 220. Cooks Fairy Cakes just perfectly.Warms up last nights pizza to perfection. You are in charge of how the combination works. You decide.Easy to clean inside, maybe because it's the size of a small garage, so plenty of space to get your hand in.It is QUIET real quiet. No clunking sound as the plate goes round.A little tip from me, if you wish to have a microwave oven that lasts, leave door open after cooking, helps let moisture vent. Hardly ever cook on 100% normally 80% is plenty.Once a week cut a lemon in half stab all over with a fork, bit of salt, then 'cook' for a few minutes on 60%. Keeps your machine smelling great, good for cleaning as well.
