AGPTEK R08 Portable and Rechargeable FM Radio MP3 Player/Recorder with a Built-in Speaker

I became aware of the AGPtek Portable and Rechargeable FM Radio MP3 Player / Recorder about 5 weeks ago, it was featured by the "GadgetDetective on BBC Radio Berkshire on 5th March 2016.. The GadgetDetective enthused about this little radio and its quality to Howard Hughes the presenter. The radio was demonstrated on air and the sound and description of facilities impressed Howard Hughes (and me ), that had been looking for such an item which I duly ordered, The item was received in good order after about a week and performed as described out of the box., Instructions were sparse but sufficient.I have not tested the Recorder option nor the Line In option as I have no immediate need of these. I have been using the Speaker and with my own headphones/ with the MP3 storage and Radio. The volume and clarity of the speaker is the best I have experienced in such a small item. The charging facility works fine and the playback period is of good length. The battery and its type is ideal for this device..PS 15/04/16 Since this review I have now had occasion to use the Record from Microphone function. This was to record the conversation between my wife and an Indian Call Centre with the phone being on speaker. Very easy to do and play back and to take off the MP3 file from the Micro storage card. Speech fidelity and playback was very good and perfectly adequate for the purpose.The radio reception and storage of favourite radio channels is very good with bands that are just wide enough at avoid "noise"As there is no folder option with the MP3`s selection of tracks is a bit of a lucky dip but that is no matter, they are all my favourites. The item is small enough and light enough to use as a portable player with or without headphones, fitting easily into a pocket with no weight to worry about.I also bought the 32gb storage card as well, which is fitted securely and unobtrusively in the body of the device.There is limited functionality on some of the features but for me the device scores highly in the areas where it counts - The sound from the speaker, the storage and selection of the MP3 music, the radio reception, and the easy selection of radio channels.

This little radio is superb, has lots of functions which I haven't used yet, only down side for me is the reception in my area is a bit weak, works perfect when holding the radio but as soon as I move my hand it loses the reception.

Very pleased with this purchase. For such a small, pocket device the speaker output / quality isn't bad. The FM radio works and it wasn't difficult to store radio station channels. Can indeed play on it MP3 / audio content, by inserting an SD card. You can only play / select files sequentially, but I knew about this 'limitation' before I bought it. I got a few hours of radio/audio before the battery ran out and it took only a few hours to recharge. I haven't tried its voice / audio recording function. I think it is a good piece of kit for someone that wants to listen to FM radio or play MP3 / audio content on the go (and presumably its recording function works reasonably well too). You can listen through its speaker or via headphones (as there is a standard headphone jack). In my opinion, considering its price it represents excellent value for money and is a very versatile pocket device.

This device had great reviews on local radio station by a "gadget" radio presenter, so i thought i'd get one. My first one was returned as it couldn't pick up any radio stations. The second replacement had much better radio reception, but still not great or clear. I think the thin hand strap must somehow be it's ariel. If you tried to record from radio there was a continuous buzz/interference which could also be heard on playback. Using it as a simple recording device quality was better but still had a low buzz. Playing back your recording a bit fiddly especially if you have lots of recordings on its memory card, as you had to try and jump/scroll through all other recordings before finding the one you want. Powerful speakers for its size/price. Ideal if you wanted to record tracks onto your memory card for playback through device. Customer services very good. I had to return first one to china and pay for postage, which was fully refunded when i gave tracking number to retailer. I hadn't even realised the retailer was outside uk and based in chia when making purchase, It arrived within a few days, even though it was prime next day delivery. Customer service very good and were happy to give refund after first faulty device, but i chose to get replacement. It's okay device for price, but not great.

This brilliant little radio and MP3 player / recorder is just what I need. I've had it a month and it goes with me to work, holidays and singing in the bath. And best of all. It remembers which MP3 you were listening to when you last switched off. No going back to the start each time you switch on. Good sound from a box smaller than a 20 cigarette pack. You'll get 4/5 hours of MP3 music from one battery charge. Spare NOKIA batteries are under £2 each on Amazon. Good for making MP3 files via the inbuilt microphone - then transfer it to a Mobile as a ringtone. Or record MP3 files from the inbuilt radio. Charges from any USB or Portable power bank. Plays into my home HiFi via a 3mm lead - and in stereo too. The radio has lots of memories for your favourite radio stations. Or just input the radio frequency on the front panel. Hand strap is the aerial. For the price this a masterpiece I wouldn't be without now. Just leave it in a pocket or bag. Never get bored again. Take all your tunes on the go !

really poor sound quality recording even with a direct line in lead - good customer service though for refund :)

This is a fantastic product. I love this radio. Considering the size (about the size of a pack of cards) the sound quality is amazing. I've brought this bike specifically for the Isle of Man TT, and I'm confident that it will be loud enough. Battery life is also fantastic.I highly recommend this product to anyone needing a small compact radio - I'd go as far as saying it's good enough to be your main radio in your kitchen!Great value for money, too!
