PHILIPSSC2008/11 IPL Lumea Precision Plus Hair Regrowth Prevention System

Prior to using this at-home laser hair removal device I had went to a beauty salon to get IPL for my face and underarms. I had bought 10 sessions for both areas. Long story short it did reduce hairs but only ever so slightly -- not satisfactorily because I had spent a fortune on it to see very little results.I bought this in August 2015 (well over a year ago) and I have been so pleased with the results. At the beginning I used it more frequently because I felt my hairs were still thick and growing back quickly. Nowadays I pick it up once in a while just to "touch-up".The Good:- Noticeable results. I’ve used this on most of my body parts, not just my face and underarms and I have noticed such a difference and very satisfying results. At the beginning, some areas were more sensitive than others so I can’t handle the maximum level (5) as it was very painful but as my hairs got lighter over time, I gradually increased the settings. This was one of the indicators for me that I was seeing REAL RESULTS!- Surprisingly cost effective. I could have bought 3 of these for the price of my salon experience (10 sessions)! And this one I actually see a noticeable difference and I have had well over 10 sessions on different parts of my body. And now I do it myself in the comfort of my own home.- Comes in different size heads: a normal sized, smaller one for the face, and one for bikini area.The Bad:- I must have been unlucky and got a defective charger. When I first got it I noticed the charger wasn’t that great – only certain positions of the cord made it charge the device. So I end up having to fiddle with the cords before it actually charges. Didn’t think much of it at the time. Until it got worse to the point it wasn’t charging at all so I contacted Philips. They were very kind to send me a replacement charger for free (under warranty). The new one charges straight away. No longer have this issue.Overall, I highly recommend this product. I wish I had known about it before I went and spent a fortune at the salon to get disappointing results. I haven’t left a review since 2009 and with this product I really felt the need to share the impressive results with others.PS. I noticed some reviews saying the restriction of this particular product is that it's not suitable for people with darker skin tones and light-coloured hair -- but this actually applies to ALL laser/IPL hair removal and not only for this particular device!

BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEWso I was skeptical in purchasing such an expensive product and did much research into this IPL machine but had to read through loads of reviews to make a decision... my main issue was with shaving rash and ingrowing hairs particularly in the downstairs area and having tried pretty much all methods of removal (shaving, waxing,epilator,hair removal cream and every lotion and potion going) I decided to take the risk.So about me... I'm pastey as a ghost with dark hair... apparently the perfect candidate for IPL removal... first time in my life my deathly pallor has been a positive.Hair removal (it used IPL on highest setting for all hair removal sessions )BIKINI AREA HAIRSo like I said I have dark hair and if left to its own devices my growler resembles a dead hedgehog. I've now used this IPL machine 3x in this area and I've noted at least a 60% reduction in hair re growth... it's patchy at the min when not 'groomed' but I'm so far happy. My actual bikini line is pretty much hair free now and this is where I always had shaving rash. I will warn on using the IPL on the 'lips' it feels like being twanged with an elastic band but tolerable and much less painful than waxing!!FOREARMSso my forearms have always resembled that of a gorilla and although the hair is fine there's a lot of it!! I've used the IPL on 2 occasions on My forearms now and have noted it to have increased the time for hair to regrow and thinned it out some... watch this space.FACIAL HAIRso let's get to the point... I have a tash. .. I've waxed this for years!! I've used the IPL 3 times on the upper lip and noted a huge difference... id say it's 80% hair free now!!Since initially writing the above review I misplaced my charger si didn't use item for 6months... by this point a lot of the hair had grown back all be it finer... it's an item you have to stick with....maybe monthly to maintain hairless skin

So far this really seems to work and I'm very pleased with it. The only negative is that it's hard to do the 'glide' as described for the legs as it's difficult to maintain the steady contact needed for the safety ring - otherwise great.

I'm a young male and wanted to use this for beard hair but was told not to use it on face after I contacted Philips. So can't really say

I bought the Philips Lumea hoping to save on the pricey laser treatments at the beauty salon, which worked great for me, however, it's not nearly as good. I haven't noticed any difference after 7 treatments. It's just not working for me, although I would be the perfect candidate for a successful treatment.

I've had this product for a few months now. I can't say I've had the time to stick to the time scale between treatments but o have used it 5/6 times on arms and legs and I can def notice a difference. I come from a background of ipl and know that lazier in general will never full eliminate the problem premenantly so I was realistic in my expectations. It's def reduced growth by about 50% which I'm happy with. It's not painful and the small machine makes it easy to use. I would reccomend this product but only if you understand that it'll never remove all your hair perm. If you have a problem with thick dark hair then you'll love this product.

Been using it for months on top setting and can't see any difference.
