My New “Go-To” Box Colour…..Absolutely Brilliant Stuff. So Much Easier than Creams
Well, I’ve got to say I’m really very impressed with this hair dye mousse. I struggled to find it on our high street in a small Dorset town, but Amazon never fails for finding things. It was a really good price at £6.66 on here too at the time.Just to set the science…I’m in my early 50’s and have box coloured my hair for many many years. I’m likely to be 85-100% grey now…..but have no idea 😂. I was born with white-blonde hair which had got darker as I got older. I’d say I’m a natural light brown more now. I have very curly 3b/3c curly that is dry, delicate and porous because i colour it.John Frieda is a bit of a hero to us Curly girls so I trusted this brand before I started, and wanted to try the mousse against my usual brand Nice N Easy. This colour mousse is without doubt the easiest and best box colour I’ve ever used. Using foam, for me, is far superior and easy to apply to very curly hair. Creams are quite thick and don’t spread through the hair that easily. The instructions are pictured through the stages and very easy to follow. The weirdest bit is that you automatically want to press the top of the pump down to obtain the foam, instead you need to squeeze the bottle to get the foam out. I’ve got very thick hair, and there’s plenty in this bottle to do all my hair at the moment (the length is level with my shoulders). Very easy to apply. However, it does say in the instructions (see photo) that the foam needs to look like the picture and foam piled on your head should be visible. This is not the case when I apply it. The foam quickly disappears and makes my hair look and feel damp, and feels wetter the more I apply. I’ve done this colour routine twice now and on both occasions I didn’t have a pile of foam on my head….saying that though it works and is amazing coverage. I wonder if that it’s because I use a lot of products on my hair and the instructions state to put on dry unwashed hair. I don’t know. It works brilliantly though. This John Freida box colour (mine is 9N), gives a very good even coverage with minimum effort and ease and looks a very natural blonde and like the colour on the box. Not brassy or an unnatural like some blonde dyes in the “Group 9” of the colour chart (9 being the lightest blonde in all makes). 9N, I’m guessing is 9 Natural, and very natural it looks too. I love it. Even 3 weeks later I can see no fading or patches of grey appearing. The colour holds well and doesn’t fade or go patchy.Applying the foam, there is quite a strong smell to it. No worse or better than other brands so I’m used to that. It also causes my eyes to water a bit when applying just by breathing. Again the same as others I’ve used. I leave the foam on for 30 mins then wash off when in the shower. When rinsing it off the slip is very good and my hair feels soft and silky which I don’t get with Nice n Easy or Garnier Nuttrise. They both feel drying at this stage on my hair. I then shampoo my hair to ensure all the dye is out, then use the conditioner they provide in the box. My hair loves conditioner, so i use the whole tube in one application and leave to work its magic for 10 mins whilst im showering, Fantastic conditioner. Hair feels lovely and soft with great slip. I didn’t need to use my own conditioner brand as well aferwards, which is what I usually need to do when using the conditioner in other colouring boxes with other brands. This conditioner is so silky and rich it does leave a very slippery residue in the shower tray so be very very careful. It’s extremely slippery under foot. Ensure you rinse the shower tray thoroughly before someone else uses the shower after you too. Absolutely brilliant dye. Very Easy & quick to apply, Holds its colour, feels soft, excellent conditioner and a very good natural colour. This is now my new “go-to” box colour for sure.

Beautiful colour but…..
I have been using L’Oréal excellence hair color for many years, but decided I needed to make a change, and try another tint/shade.I loved the results! It was clean and very easy to apply, following the instructions carefully. I had read in previous comments that some mentioned that it washed out after several washes, so I left the product in 10 minutes longer to tackle the stubborn gray hairs at the front of my hairline.I noticed a lot of colour being rinsed away on the first hair wash. However, my hair still looked great. But unfortunately, by the 3rd hair wash, all my gray hair was very apparent. In all, the hair colour lasted less than 2 weeks. I gave the product 3 stars as the colour was stunning, my hair felt very soft, but for me, it was more of a semi colorant. I shall be returning to L’Oréal excellence as this is a true permanent dye lasting 4 to 5 weeks due to gray re growth.

Exceptional hair dye 👍❤
Just WOW!!First of all I'd like to mention this is a long review but I can't help that as it's a fantastic product!I have been dying my hair since I was 19 and now I'm 32 I have also never used john freida as I've always looked for a fairly cheap product due to the fact I'm tight lol and how wrong was i 😮.With all this corona pandemic going on and being stuck indoors ect I had greys taking up the most part of the front of my head (embarrassingly) so I looked on amazon for a delivery but literally ALL the cheaper brands where sold out (go figure) seems we also have a grey pandemic going on 🤷♀️ anyway there where many 1 or 2 cheapish hair dyes that where around £6.99 each but delivery wasn't for like over a month, that's no good as I'll look like a snow yeti by then, then i see John Freida in my colour (light natural brown) and got all excited as I have prime and even with the delivery situation over the corona virus it would still be delivered in 3 days (result).Well todays the day and I was impressed from the get go, as soon as I unboxed it the tubs are a considerable size bigger then the cheaper brands (Live) (Garnier) ect including the hair conditioner which is very important to me as my hair is down to my hips so I need all the conditioner I can get.So I mix it up and begin to think I haven't got enough as I only ordered two boxes but considering it's a foam I was knocked off my feet when it just slid right over my hair and absorbed it's way it, it was that easy I swear! No tangles or knots which I have always had with other hair dyes, it didnt drip of flick off anywhere so I had no mess to clean up 👍 I'm literally so impressed I cant stress it enough.Well after I got through all my hair I still had a quarter of the hair dye left, now this shocked me as it's never happend before I always need 2 maby 3 boxes to dye the length of my hair but to have this product do it all and have leftovers is amazing!! I had so much foam on my head it was unbelievable, but it just gets better...there was no putrid ammonia smell choking me out and making my eyes stream infact the hair dye smelt lovely, not only that but there was no burning (warm) sensation on my scalp like with all other branded hair dyes this product was just smooth and soft to put on.Here come the washing part....if you have long hair and have dyed it before you know lumps of hair come out quite painfully after the hair dye has dried and knotted up but washing this John freida out was like being in one of those tropical adverts, I wanted to shout out ( Because I'm worth it) 🤣My hair felt like silk layers and layers of silk honestly that conditioner was made by Angel's.Now the end result is where I say I'm NEVER buying any other branded hair product other then John Freida I want to meet this man and shake his hand, not only do I now have a unused box ready for next time this brand may be a little dearer but its saving me money as I only need to buy one at a time now not the ridiculous 2 or 3 boxs. It's covered all my yeti white hair with no signs of grey or any of those dressed weird patches you tend to miss, my hair is completely dyed from root to tip!Best hair dye I have ever used in my entire life.100% reccomend
