Just my kettle of fish!
We have two of these Kenwood JKP210 kettles. In my opinion it is close to the perfect kettle as long as you are happy with a plastic rather than metal variety. As I see it these are the pros and cons of the JKP210;Pros- Nice "soft" design with a large easy grip rubber-like handle and water indicators on both sides of the kettle. You can see how full it is from almost any direction, and, I suspect this would be a helpful feature for left-handed people.- Capacious - the 1.6L, 3Kw design means fast boiling, although, you can boil as little as 1 cup at a time, and, it's very fast.- The element is concealed so the interior base is smooth for easier cleaning, and, if needed descaling.- The base is truly 360 degree. You can put the kettle on the base from any angle plus you can store excess cord in the base avoiding unsightly extra cable and improving safety.- The spout is generous and makes pouring easy, and, you can either fill the kettle from the spout or the button controlled lid. There is also a neat, washable, mesh filter in the spout to screen out limescale etc.- It has a nice large switch with a bright, white LED indicator.- Which? Consumer Association recommended kettle.Cons- Can sound a bit "furious" in the final stages of boiling.- Looks practical and smart but not "premium" like some expensive metal kettles.- Nothing else I can think of.In summary, a really good kettle with excellent ergonomics and performance at a reasonable price. Hard to fault. Recommended.

Practical and attractive
Kenwood have been making this particular model of kettle for a many years. The one I have just bought is the fourth I’ve had of this design; they tend to last for 3 or 4 years before any problems seem to occur. I’ve always been so pleased with this design that I had no hesitation in buying exactly the same model again. There are several reasons I like this model so much:It looks smartIt’s quick to boilThe lid flicks open easily with the same hand that is holding the kettleThe capacity guide is easy to see (being on the side of kettle) and very clear to readIt is of a good capacity without being bulkyIt’s easy to lift on and off the base plateIt has a decent length cord which can be shortened by winding underneath the base plateIt is very reasonably priced.

Very good kettle for the price
The kettle looks good — mostly white, with a few grey bits — and would probably fit in with most decors. My impression is that it boils faster than my old kettle, and it is certainly quieter — though I’m sure there are quieter ones on the market.I like the fact that there’s a window on each side of the kettle, as it makes it easy to fill to the correct level. The levels are marked in cups, from 1 to 6.The handle grips well (though I haven’t actually tested it with wet hands), and pouring is much, much easier than my old kettle. The filter is easy to lift out and rinse. The one minor criticism I have is that the lid flips back a little bit energetically, and there is a danger that drops of hot water could be flicked onto bare forearms — I noticed this when I pre-boiled the kettle prior to using it for the first time. It’s not a big issue for me, though: I’m not in the habit of flicking the lid open immediately after boiling. All in all, I’m pleased with my purchase, and I would have given it 4.5 stars if I could have.

good grip
This is a decent kettle and has a non-slip handle and quick boil.

Well pleased
Nice kettle, looks good, clear display (so no need to boil more water than necessary), boils quickly, pours nicely. And you can get replacement filters. Very pleased.

Non slip handle
Have had this kettle before and it is perfect. Good handle and fairly light weight

Ok but wouldn't buy again
I was pleased with the kettle for the first week but then it suddenly became really noisy and continues to be so. Noisiest kettle I've had. Also it doesn't automatically switch itself off if you lift the kettle before it's boiled. Have to remember to flick the switch. On the plus side it looks nice, it's not too heavy and it doesn't dribble.

Good value - Recommended - but lid catch failed after 1 month
Our old and well used Breville kettle failed - started to leak after 3 years and they don't produce the same model now, so what to replace it with?Resorted to Which? magazine and the Kenwood is rated the Best Buy from a cast of hundreds. I have to say that the Which? report is spot on in terms of description - it is light in weight, easy and comfortable to handle - a real consideration for my wife as she has difficulty with her grip, quiet and efficient in operation, easy to remove filter etc.We did not experience any problem with the water taste - filled and boiled water twice before using for drinks - no bad taste as reported by others.Would prefer it if the power switch operated to off when the kettle is removed from its base. All in all it looks like a good buy and not the most expensive by some margin. How reliable and what kind of life it has remains to be seen, but so far so good. One month on - the lid catch mechanism has failed - sticky operation from day one but has now broken. Amazon out of stock so returned for a refund. Got a new one coming form John Lewis tomorrow.OK - 12 months on inherent design faults on this kettle now apparent - the lid opening mechanism is rubbish - starts sticking early on - then fails completely! (fill via spout) The power indicator light also failed and it fails to power up on occasion. Not made for a long life.ARE YOU READING THIS KENWOOD?

Works very well!
Great design, like the fact that the heating element is is hidden under a flat plate making it very easy to clean. The pouring spout works perfectly!
