My son is eight but quite talented with Lego. Recommended age for Lego architecture is 12 - will this be too technical for him?

My son has been doing them since he was about 10 and I would say they would be fine. Maybe start with the leaning tower of Pisa or Eiffel Tower!

How long does it take to build?

Depends on your experience, the central bit can be a bit difficult but doable. Can take from approx. an hour to slightly more, but well worth a build.
