Authoritative, Useful but also lacking
This product has been very useful, seems acurite and authoritative. However, there is one point of frustration that I have found. Although the referance is very "comprehensive" in it's scope of manufacturers, it does NOT list product values for all of them. I understand that this may be too much to expect, or is it ? After all, is it the aim of the "Price Guide" to list all exsisting "Manufacturers" OR rather, the "Values" of the manufacturers products ? If your going to show a photograph of a specific product from a perticular manufacturer,I dont think it's too much to expect that you would then, at that point, show that particular instruments "price-tag". It IS after all, a Price Guide is it not? Or alternatively, perhaps the guide could simply list the producers price "range" for it's products. For example, Production models from "$$$ to $$$" and Premium/Custom models from "$$$ to $$$$". If values can not be reported then perhaps there should not be showcased a "picture" of a product. Again, why even list the procucer existance if values cannot be produced ? Also, although it is understood that this is an expensive suggestion of nothing more than "fluff", however it would be awsome if there were a "color" section showcasing some nice pairings of vintage guitar with amplifier as was done in Aspen Pitmans "The Tube Amp Book". Aside from these critiques, this Guide still has proven itself to be very useful and acurite.

Best All Round Price Guide
Authoritative and fairly complete. Some prominent custom luthiers were not rated which is disappointing, but all the high production brands are well represented. Some limited editions and new models don't show up, but again, it's as complete as one could expect. No price guide can be 100% accurate. Prices vary by region. I use this guide in combination with online comps at reputable sites. Craigslist and eBay listings are NOT valid comps. People can put merchandise in at any price they choose, and most times, they bear no relation to what it's truly worth. I guess checking actual sale prices on eBay is okay, but I don't have the time (or software) to do that.

Perfect
My dad always likes to price the numerous guitars he has collected over the years, and this is the easiest Christmas present. It is very easy to read and since he is familiar with the layout, he can find his prices right away.

Vintage Guitar 2013 Price Guide
It is very good for your common guitars, amps... especially for the price. It mentions, but does not value less popular guitar makers... there are better guides out there for that.Great price at Amazon.com ($19.00, no tax and free shipping if you bump your order up to $25.00) as opposed to ordering it from Vintage Guitar, $25.00 plus shipping, tax ?????)

Needs Serious Help in the Guild Department
My main criticism of this book has always been the lack of information on some of the more popular vintage Guild guitars and the way the entire Guild section has been constructed. I pointed this out to one of the authors in 2010 but nothing has changed in this edition. Some of the smaller-body acoustics from Guild, like the M-20 and F-20 are missing altogether. And why are D-40 models among others listed in two separate places and on two different pages? It makes no sense not to have notations directing the reader to the other model years. This book probably would not have any value for the average musician or retail consumer, but for guitar dealers this book is an excellent tool to have in your arsenal. Just remember prices of vintage guitars can vary well beyond the average ranges listed in this guide.

Price Guide
Values reflected are a bit higher than the going rate. Everyone in the business knows that and uses it to set a selling or buying price.I wish there were more pictures. They help to identify the Model.

Good guide
Hi all this book is fine but my last review was removed because i listed a place that has replaced the classified ads so i won't mention that place - prices check out here in North Cackalacky.

vintage guitar price guide 2013
Pretty good, fairly comprehensive although some glaring omissions i.e.; Vigier of France nowhere to be seen! Perhaps a little too biased towards American makers for my liking. Nevertheless useful. Happy to pay just over Β£12, not sure I'd pay the Β£20 some people are asking.

Great resource
Buying and selling guitars is a great fun hobby. This is a great way of getting a ball park valuation. It's a shame that it has all the prices in $ not Β£ though....

Not worth the price or search effort
This Guide is incomplete despite what the writers claim, some very known guitar models are completely missing from it (e.g. Fender Precision fretless and some others as well). It is hard to find a specific guitar if you know what you are looking for in it. They heavily catalogue guitars based on colors, instead of model/year (just like cars are listed).Anyway, it is much easier to Google what you need than having to look into this incomplete book. Web is so detailed when looking for info that no book can come even close, including this one.
