If you find this review helpful ... please click the little "yes" box below. It's really difficult to tell whether a lock is 'good' or not. After all, it's not until somebody tries to remove it (so that they can get at the stuff that the lock is protecting) that you can really tell. But, this seems to be good. It isn't too heavy but appears to be 'solid'. The numbers for the combination are clear and easy to read and move without any difficulty. It's very easy to reset the numbers to your own personal PIN. I use this as an 'extra' disk lock on my motorbike. I leave it under the seat and it's just in case I forget my 'larger' disk lock and can't be bothered to take the (much larger and heavier) chain lock for the back wheel.

Upon first holding the padlock, I knew instantly that it was of higher quality then any I had owned and used previously. I personally use mine for the gym and have nevertheless had any issues with using it on gym lockers. I decided to spend that little bit extras do buy this lock as I wanted my belongings to be safe whilst I workout. I can attest to the longevity of the lock, as I had previously owned it for the better part of two years, until I unfortunately lost it. All in all a easy to use, safe and reliable solid brass lock which serves its purpose bell well

It is a well made device, but it is quite easy to unlock and pick the lock as each barrel gives when the correct number is selected. In fact I managed it myself. More for deterrence than for anything else.

I bought this padlock as I was travelling through hostels for 6 months and I wanted a secure way to store my stuff. After two years of use this product is as good as when I first bought it. The product feels sturdy and if it would be heard to break. Turning the keys feel easy and it's easy to tell which number it is on. The lock is quite heavy for a padlock, but I feel this is a positive as it shows the product is serious. I take this to every hostel I go to, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a padlock.

Pros: - A good, solid-feeling construction - one-piece body - seems weather proof so far (about 3-4 months over winter) - good price - no keys to lose (just a code to forget...!) Cons: - the barrel can feel a bit stiff - you need to lightly squeeze the lock together (i.e. press down on the "U" shape) to alleviate this - it's fine on my garden gate and will resist the efforts of a casual crook but I wouldn't use this on any high-security applications as it is not a heavy duty lock (as advised on the packaging, to be fair)

The product photo for ABUS Combination Padlock 165/20 shows 4 digit code, but actual product is 3 digit code. This is false advertising. Really disappointed.

For a combination lock, it's good. The wheels turn well, and it is solidly built. Trouble is, combination locks like this are trivial to decode. It has false gates, but they are easy to tell apart from the real gates. It took me less than a minute to decode the first time I tried. It also suffers from being easy to prise open, since it only locks on the wheel side - nothing keeps the other side of the hasp in place. Use only as a visual deterrent or somewhere quite trusted, and not for anything of significant value.

These are rather expensive compared to some of the others you can find but they are very sturdy and none of mine have failed on me ( I bought 4 ) where I used them during Basic Training in the military. I highly recommend these over the cheap travel combination locks you find.
