Yes I believe mine did. It is a red piece of braid line.

Can the declination be adjusted?

There is no declination adjustment on this model of Silva compass. You will need to work out the magnetic variation and adjust your reading accordingly.The Cave & Crag Team.

Does this compass function in both southern and northern hemispheres?

This is just for the northern hemisphere and is marked ‘MN’ on the back for Magnetic North. Silva also do a Magnetic South (marked MS) for use in the Southern Hemisphere and a third compass for use on the equator. As has been said on here you can now get a Silva Global compass which cover North, South & Equatorial use.

Does it come with a lanyard and does it come with life warranty from Silva?

Yes complete with lanyard which has a total length of 34"/85cm (half of that to return loop). No, guarantee is for 5 years.
