Baking Cocoa Powder 11lb. Bag

My favorite baking and hot chocolate cocoa. Well with the cost. Very well packaged for shipping plus solid resealable 2.5kg bags.

To figure out if expensive cocoa powder really is worth it, I did a blind taste test with some friends. We tried 6 varieties (Callebaut, Penzey's, Morning Pep, Hershey's, Trader Joes, and Costco). Callebaut was the unanimous winner. It has more complex flavor with stronger chocolate and a more pronounced bitter note, is more finely ground for better incorporation in recipes, and is richer in color. Callebaut also wins Cooks Illustrated's cocoa powder tests. The price per ounce is about twice the cost of grocery store brands, unless you bite the bullet and buy the 5 kg/11 lb bag. At that point, the price per ounce is about the same. You do have to make sure you go through a lot of cocoa powder, or form a coop with friends to split it into smaller portions. The large paper bag is awkward and I had a fair amount of waste in transferring the cocoa powder to a container, so I will need to figure out a better system.

This is very good cocoa powder

On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving we decided to make some old fashioned fudge requiring dutch process cocoa. Unfortunately, rather than phone, I ordered by email and paid for next day delivery. It turned out the small supplier was closed until the following Monday when it was shipped for next day delivery and it arrived Tuesday. Monday was the latest delivery date we could use the ingredient for that cooking session. We were able to purchase enough product from a local bakery to get us through, so it all worked out. The moral is the web may run 24/7 but the folks on the other end may not! Otherwise it was a good transaction.

a fair price. Buy this and you won't be sorry. Makes your hot chocolate better, your baked goods wonderful and has an excellent flavor in everything I've used it in so far.

This is the best cocoa, at the best price. It has a really nice, silky texture, and a pure flavor without extra tastes or textures to get in the way. It shipped incredibly fast - we made cocoa tonight!

The best cocoa powder. It’s a bit pricey, but the quality is so worth it. Customer service was super nice too. Would definitely buy again.

This is the best chocolate that we've ever bought we've done three or four different kinds in the past and this is by far the best. We use it to make chocolate syrup as well as for baking.
